Forty-six campsites with a paddling pool are listed on the portal, 32 of them with verified off-season opening. A paddling pool is a shallow pool for toddlers, almost always attached to the main pool: it therefore follows its calendar. In low season, the rule is clear. A campsite that is open all year rarely keeps its paddling pool accessible unless the pool is covered; most often, only the accommodation stays open.
Two campsites combine a paddling pool with a sheltered pool. In Haute-Savoie, L’Escale in Le Grand-Bornand has an 80 m² heated indoor pool with a paddling pool, open from 11am to 8pm in summer (7 May to 20 September 2026) as in winter (5 December 2026 to 31 March 2027). In the Lozère, Les Chalets de la Margeride in Blavignac, with 21 chalets open all year round, house the pool and paddling pool under glazed shelters, presented as usable in all weathers. In Campan, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, L’Orée des Monts opens in winter from 1 December to 31 March, but its heated pool and hot tub operate in summer.
In Occitanie, nine campsites out of twelve are verified, and year-round opening mostly concerns the rental accommodation. The Camping international du Roussillon in Salses-le-Château welcomes guests all year but opens its pool and paddling pool only from 1 June to 30 September. The Domaine de Sainte Véziane in Bessan opens its water area from May to the end of September. At Les Chalets des Mousquetaires in Mirepoix, the pool opens from 15 June to 15 September, while the heated chalets are rented all year round. In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, La Belle Etoile in Reygade closes its pool and paddling pool at the end of September, Le Pressoir opens its water area from 15 June to 15 September, and En Campagne, in the Charente, offers a pool for little ones of 8 m², 70 cm deep, in a secure enclosure, within a campsite open all year round.
In the Pays de la Loire, the paddling pool follows the fine season: L’Ambois in Mouilleron-le-Captif announces its heated pools from May to September, Villa Campista opens its water area from May to September and Le Domaine des Pins from Easter to 11 November. In the Nièvre, L’Étang de la Fougeraie heats its pool, with paddling pool, to 29 °C from mid-June to September. In Normandy, Salverte opens its indoor pool and paddling pool from 15 May to 15 September. In the Loiret, Le Jardin de Sully is open 365 days a year, with its pool in July and August.
Ask for the paddling pool’s opening dates, then whether it is covered, heated and secured. Six campsites in this selection close for several months and eight declare off-season opening that we have not confirmed.
With young children, a closed paddling pool leaves room for other outings. In Le Grand-Bornand, the gondola lifts are 500 m from L’Escale with a free shuttle, and the ice rink is 100 m away. In Saint-Christophe, in the Charente Limousine, En Campagne offers walks along the quiet roads of the plateau, farmers’ markets and a visit to the village, its Romanesque church and its feudal tower.
In Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, Villa Campista keeps a private fishing pond, twelve pétanque lanes and a play area open all year; in Mouilleron-le-Captif, L’Ambois has a mini-farm. Near Sully-sur-Loire, the campsite faces the château, with walks along the Loire. At Les Mousquetaires, in Mirepoix, an 8 km hiking loop starts from the campsite.
For a spring or autumn stay, aim for the April school holidays: Les Charmes in Apremont opens its covered pool, with paddling pool and closed airlock, from the April holidays to the October ones.
