Yelloh! Village Bordeaux Lac covers 13 hectares in Bruges, north of Bordeaux, on boulevard Jacques Chaban-Delmas, right by the lake. Central Bordeaux is about 8 km away, roughly fifteen minutes, and can be reached by tram: reception even sells the tickets. The campsite is rated 4 stars and is part of the Yelloh! Village network.
The offer includes about 150 rental units, mobile homes and cottages for 2 to 8 people, as well as 128 bare pitches, shaded and spacious, for tents, caravans and motorhomes. The website highlights the landscaped setting, in the midst of nature and close to the water.
As for the calendar, the website states that it is open all year round. It distinguishes only a high season, from early July to late August, and an off-season that covers the rest of the year, with no closure announced. The pool, kids’ clubs and entertainment are reserved for high season, but reception, the accommodation and several services remain available. This arrangement suits a weekend in Bordeaux, a wine-country getaway or a business trip.
The 280 m² seminar room and two 35 m² rooms also make it possible to host company meetings of 20 to 250 people, with accommodation on site.
Bordeaux 15 minutes away (Cité du Vin, museums, old town), Médoc vineyards 6 km away, Saint-Émilion, Arcachon basin and Pilat dune.
The village has a restaurant, Le Bistrot du Lac, serving home-cooked burgers, meat dishes and more elaborate fare, with a gourmet menu on Saturday evenings and a brunch on Sundays or public holidays; its hours vary depending on the period. There is also a bar, a snack bar with takeaway dishes, a bakery and a grocery.
Reception rents baby kits, safes, barbecues or cooking rings, and provides tourist information. The laundry, the motorhome service point, the mail service, cashless payment and wifi complete the facilities. Some rental units are adapted for people with disabilities.
The water area includes a heated outdoor pool, a heated paddling pool, a 200 m² water play area called Splashpad and a sun terrace. The campsite states that the pool operates in high season: it cannot be counted on for a winter or shoulder-season stay. To swim in a natural lake, you need to go to Hourtin, Maubuisson or Lacanau.
Finally, three function rooms and projection equipment are offered to companies and families alike, for a wedding or a family reunion, with caterers and service providers.
Children have a high-ropes park with a zip line and trampoline, two inflatables and a multisport court. Two clubs supervise their days: the Club Kids for ages 5 to 7 and the Club Juniors for ages 8 to 12, with outdoor games, creative activities, sport and mini-golf. They run five days out of seven from early July to late August only.
From the campsite, Bordeaux can be visited in a day: Place des Quinconces, Saint-André cathedral and Pey-Berland tower, the Grosse Cloche, Porte Cailhau, rue Sainte-Catherine, the Cité du Vin and the Natural History Museum. The vineyards are not far, with a first estate 6 km away, at the gateway to the Médoc, then Saint-Émilion and its medieval village.
The Arcachon basin and the Pilat dune make for a day trip. For family outings, the campsite mentions Aqualand in Arcachon, the Tépacap treetop adventure park and Kid Parc.
Off-season, activities are mostly urban and gourmet: Bordeaux’s museums and monuments, wine estate visits, Saint-Émilion. The campsite does not detail any winter entertainment.
