Overview

Le Ragis campsite covers 10 hectares of wooded parkland, deep in the countryside at Challans, about 5 minutes from the town centre. Saint-Jean-de-Monts, Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez are about fifteen kilometres away, Nantes 65 km. The site is rated 4 stars and grew out of a family farm taken over in 1972; it now has 213 pitches.

Plots of 100 to 180 m² take tents, caravans, vans and motorhomes, with a 10-amp hook-up. The rental fleet includes mobile homes with one to four bedrooms for 2 to 8 people, a canvas bungalow and a furnished rental. For leisure, there is a water area with a covered pool, a heated outdoor pool, a paddling pool and three slides, as well as a mini farm, a fishing pond and a mini golf.

Opening period: this is not a campsite open all year round. According to the official website, mobile homes can be booked from April 1 to October 30, 2026, and pitches from mid-February to mid-December, even for a single night. Vendée Tourisme, for its part, gives an opening from February 17 to December 14, 2026. The campsite is therefore closed for about two months, from mid-December to mid-February, and no rental accommodation is offered from November to March.

The water activities and entertainment described on the website mainly concern summer; off-season, it is best to ask the campsite which facilities are in operation.

Three sanitary blocks are spread around the site: toilets, free showers with a time-limited badge system, washbasins, a baby area, dishwashing sinks and facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility. A laundry room with recent machines, which use 13 litres of water per cycle, completes the offer. Motorhome owners have a service area to empty grey water and chemical toilets and to fill their fresh water tank. A European plug adapter is lent against a deposit.

Each mobile home has a fitted kitchen, a dining area, a living room with television, a bathroom and a covered terrace with garden furniture. The top-of-the-range models add air conditioning and a dishwasher. The website also mentions a snack bar, without specifying when it operates.

The water area combines a covered pool with slides, an outdoor pool and a paddling pool, all heated according to the website; opening hours and dates for the pools are not published. The campsite has also committed to an eco-responsible approach: eco-labelled cleaning products, timed showers, cigarette butt recycling and a second life for used furniture.
