L’Escale Village is in Le Grand-Bornand, in Haute-Savoie, on the Impasse du Plein Air. The village shops are a few minutes’ walk away (about 250 m), the gondola lifts are 500 m away, Annecy 30 km and Chamonix 50 km. Born in 1965 from a family project, the site is rated 3 stars and has 148 pitches, as well as an apartment residence, a chalet, mobile homes and rooms.
The 80 m² (standard) or 100 m² (comfort) pitches have sparsely grassed or gravel ground and no trees. As for rental accommodation, the offer ranges from a room for two people to apartments for 4 to 10, via cottages for 4 to 7 people and the Snowbaur chalet, classified as a furnished tourist rental, whose largest unit sleeps 14.
The calendar has two seasons: summer from 7 May to 20 September 2026, then winter from 5 December 2026 to 31 March 2027. Some apartments remain open all year round, for stays as well as overnight stops. In winter, the pitches are reserved for snow caravanning, which exists only in this period, while the other pitches operate in summer only.
Between late September and early December, then between April and early May, only the apartments open all year welcome holidaymakers.
Skiing and cross-country skiing in Le Grand-Bornand (gondola lifts 500 m away, free shuttle), ice rink 100 m away, snowshoeing, biathlon, market on Wednesday mornings.
The water area is the highlight in summer and winter alike. The 80 m² indoor pool is heated, has a paddling pool and is open every day from 11am to 8pm during the opening periods. In summer, a 160 m² outdoor pool is added, with massage jets, balneo, a play area for little ones and a sun terrace, open in July and August according to the published dates.
For winter, the campsite has thought about the facilities: heated washrooms with rooms to store skis and dry clothes and shoes, heating in the mobile homes, delivery of gas bottles to the pitch and a free shuttle to the ski lifts every twenty minutes.
On site there is also a laundry, a bread and pastry pick-up point depending on the season, free wifi around reception, a barbecue area with a picnic area, a bike garage and a Savoyard restaurant, La Ferme du Pépé, with takeaway dishes, open every evening and at weekends at lunchtime, summer and winter. Reception hires out board games; a games room and a TV room with a reading corner complete the set-up.
At the campsite, you will find two tennis courts, a pétanque court, a football pitch, table tennis tables, a play area and a games room with billiards, table football and video games. The site does not detail any organised entertainment: everyone plans their own day.
In summer, more than 150 km of marked trails start from the surroundings, with mountain biking, paragliding, via ferrata, climbing and zip lines. A nearby leisure area offers mini-golf, treetop adventure, archery and pony rides. A traditional market is held every Wednesday morning, and the heritage centre and the valley’s farms let you discover reblochon cheese.
In winter, the Aravis slopes are reached by gondola lift, with alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowshoeing and paragliding. The ice rink is 100 m from the campsite. The campsite’s local partners give preferential rates on some outings, including the Mer de Glace.
