Overview

L’Escapade is in Priay, in the Ain département, on the Route du Pont, alongside the Ain river. The site is part of a Natura 2000 area and lies between the Bresse, the Dombes and the Bugey, close to Bourg-en-Bresse, Cerdon and the Lyon region. The neighbouring village has a tobacconist and newsagent, a grocery, a medical centre, a pharmacy, hairdressers, cafés and restaurants.

The site has 120 flat, spacious, tree-shaded pitches, open from early April to late September, as well as pitches let on a seasonal package. The rental accommodation includes traditional wooden caravans (roulottes) for four people and two ranges of mobile homes: the 28.90 m² Convivial model for 4 to 7 people and the 29.90 m² Grand Confort model for 4 to 6 people. Part of the campsite is also set aside for residential pitches.

When it comes to opening, the campsite stands out: the roulottes and mobile homes can be rented all year round, by the night, weekend, week or month depending on availability, with a 10% discount from the second week. In autumn and winter, self-contained motorhomes are accepted with online booking, at a flat rate of 20 € a night, with washrooms closed. Self-service arrival is possible until 9pm with a booking or after a phone call.

The best season therefore runs from April to September, with pool, restaurant and entertainment; for the rest of the year, the place is quieter and focused on nature.

The Ain river is the main playground: beach, swimming, fishing, canoeing-kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are all available from the campsite, and the river is classed as first category for fishing. On site there is a bouncy castle, a large trampoline, a petanque court, a beach volleyball court, badminton, table tennis tables (equipment loan at reception), a slackline, a ninja course and a play area. A fitness area is announced for 2026.

In summer, petanque and table tennis competitions punctuate the weeks, along with children’s entertainment, including a Zanimo’ walking trail and geocaching treasure hunts around Priay, as well as dance or themed evenings, karaoke, DJ nights, a pool party and a market of local craftspeople. Board games are lent at reception.

In the surrounding area, walking trails, lakes and the heritage of the Ain valley offer plenty of variety: the Longeville leisure centre for canoeing, an escape game with Défi 01, and the Pass’ Découvertes de l’Ain for discounted visits to sites. Off-season, walking and fishing remain the simplest activities to enjoy from the campsite.
