Les Chalets d’Uza are tucked away in the pine forest, in Uza, between Saint-Julien-en-Born and Lit-et-Mixe, in the Landes. The campsite is rated three stars and is about 500 m from the road to Saint-Julien-en-Born. The beaches of Contis and Cap de l’Homy are almost 10 km away, Mimizan 15 minutes, Dax 30 minutes, the Basque coast 45 minutes and Bordeaux an hour. Saint-Julien-en-Born and Lit-et-Mixe, five minutes away, have a doctor, pharmacy, post office, bank, supermarket and restaurants.
The offer is based on permanent accommodation, spread over well-spaced plots: detached wooden chalets of 28.50 m² for 4 or 5 people, with two bedrooms and a covered terrace of 10 m², and a family mobile home of about 40 m² with three bedrooms, air-conditioned, available to rent since April 2025. The site does not offer bare pitches.
The campsite states that it is open all year round and speaks of seasonal rental “summer and winter alike”. The 2026 rate card covers 5 January to 30 June, then 1 September to 21 December, with a specific period from 21 December to 5 January; in July and August, prices go up. A chalet can also be rented by the month for a long stay, subject to conditions, on request from the manager.
The atmosphere is that of a quiet family campsite in the heart of the forest, designed for walks, cycling and trips to the ocean.
Forest walks and cycling on the cycle paths, strolls on the beaches of Contis and Cap de l'Homy, about 10 km away, and the Mimizan market.
Facilities on site are kept simple. The advertised services are a supervised car park, free Wi-Fi, pets welcome, a communal barbecue area, access adapted for visitors with reduced mobility, free delivery of bread and pastries in the morning to the chalet and a snack bar by the pool. This snack bar only opens in high season; off-season, you need to rely on the shops in Saint-Julien-en-Born and Lit-et-Mixe, five minutes away.
La Table d’Uza serves lunch or dinner, by reservation only, based on local produce. Reception provides information throughout your stay on outdoor activities, festivals, markets and local sights.
For swimming, the campsite has an above-ground pool with a large pool and a paddling pool for the youngest. The site does not specify its opening dates; the nearby sports facilities are announced for high season. For sea swimming, the beaches of Contis and Cap de l’Homy are about 10 km away.
Each chalet has a fitted kitchen with a fridge, microwave, hob, extractor hood, toaster and coffee maker, a dining area, a shower room, a toilet and storage cupboards. The three-bedroom mobile home adds an oven, a freezer, a television, a plancha and two terraces; no information is given on heating.
On the campsite, there are trampolines, a football pitch, a volleyball court, a petanque court and table tennis tables, mainly in high season. Yoga classes, individual or group, are offered with Shakti Yoga to punctuate the days.
Around the forest, cycle paths make it easy to set off by bike, and horse lovers will find a riding centre for a ride on the beach or under the pines. The more sporty can take a lesson at a surf school or climb in a treetop adventure park, while the descent of the Courant de Contis is done by canoe; pedal boats are also mentioned among the region’s leisure activities.
A visit to the Contis lighthouse, with its 183 steps and its view over the ocean and the Landes, completes the programme. In summer, a circus set up right next to the campsite gives shows on Thursday evenings, with a free drink for chalet guests.
Off-season, the appeal of the place lies mainly in nature: the site invites you to discover the wild landscapes of the Landes “summer and winter alike”, with forest walks, cycling and strolls on the beaches of Contis, 10 km away, as well as the Mimizan market, 15 minutes away.
