Domaine Villa Campista

Villa Campista sits on a wooded 6-hectare estate in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, in the Vendée, on the coast between the resorts of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie to the south and Saint-Jean-de-Monts to the north. The sandy beaches of the coast are 6 km away. The campsite is rated 3 stars and has a family atmosphere: pitches of 90 to 250 m² separated by hedges, a quiet setting and a private one-hectare fishing lake at the back of the grounds.

The holiday offer is based on rentals: chalets of 16 to 25 m² for 2 to 4 people and mobile homes of 22 to 35 m² for 4 to 6 people, all with a covered terrace and garden furniture. Several air-conditioned models, hot and cold, are announced as new for 2026. The website shows no bare pitches for tents or caravans: it is the rental accommodation that welcomes passing guests.

The campsite describes itself as open all year round, under the slogan “holidays 365 days a year”. The rates shown run from 1 January to 31 December, with short stays of 2 to 4 nights possible outside July and August, and weekly rentals the rest of the time. The accommodation is heated in every room. The water facilities and the entertainment, however, are summer-only.

The estate also sells mobile homes with a pitch, for owners who want to enjoy them all year round.

Fishing in the private lake all year round, pétanque on 12 lanes, tennis, table tennis, and walks on the Vendée coast 6 km away.

Each rental includes a fitted kitchen (fridge, gas or electric hob, microwave, coffee maker, crockery), a shower room, separate toilets except in the two small chalets, a television, free wifi limited to one connection per accommodation, and duvets and pillows provided. Bed linen, towels and household linen must be brought along, with a disposable linen kit as an option; an end-of-stay cleaning package is offered at €70. A high chair and a travel cot can be hired, as can a gas barbecue, charcoal being prohibited.

The laundry room, in the middle of the campsite, has two washing machines and a tumble dryer, with tokens and detergent doses sold at reception. A washroom block reserved for guests with reduced mobility is opened with a key handed over on arrival. Dogs are accepted under conditions, for €4 a night.

In high season, a snack bar serves pizzas, burgers, salads, mussels and chips and ice cream from morning to evening, and a bakery bakes croissants and baguettes on site. The 300 m² water area, open from May to September depending on the weather, has a heated pool, a twin-lane slide, a whirlpool bath and a paddling pool, with access for guests with reduced mobility, a sun terrace and a terrace bar. Off-season, reception is open Monday to Saturday with reduced hours.

Several outdoor facilities can be used all year round: two table tennis tables, a tennis court, a play area with slides, a net tower and spring riders, and a 12-lane boules area near the lake. The one-hectare lake, secured by a keypad and reserved for guests, can be fished without a fishing licence: carp, pike, zander, tench, eel and roach live in it, and picnic tables line the water.

In July and August, an old, typically Vendée barn becomes a games and entertainment room, with air hockey, table football and billiards. The campsite then organises daytime and evening entertainment, including dance nights and karaoke, a weekly pétanque tournament open to all and, in the pool, water polo or pool parties.

Around the estate, Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez offers surfing, sailing, sand yachting and catamaran sailing. Sea fishing is available aboard the Mephisto IV, a former longliner, from the port of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, and the river Vie is open to anglers between Saint-Gilles and the Vallées weir. Shore anglers find their place along the Vendée corniche. Off-season, the lake, pétanque, tennis and table tennis remain the on-site programme, with the coast 6 km away for walks.
