Les Chalets des Mousquetaires are in the commune of Mirepoix, in the Gers, about 2 km from the village and on the hills of Gascony, in the heart of d’Artagnan country. Auch is 15 minutes away and Toulouse an hour’s drive. The estate is rated 3 stars and 3 ears Gîtes de France, and belongs to the Villages de Gîtes association, which brings together small-scale sites.
It is a small complex of twelve units: eleven 35 m² chalets for 2 to 5 people, including one adapted for guests with reduced mobility, and a wooden caravan for two people. Each unit has a private garden enclosed by hedges, a parking space, a covered terrace and a view over the valleys. The reception chalet, also accessible, houses washroom facilities.
On opening dates, the website announces stays all year round, every day from 8am to 10pm. The chalets and the wooden caravan are insulated and fitted with heating for winter, and nightly “off-season” rates are published until 31 December 2026, with different prices on weekdays (Monday to Thursday) and at weekends. It is possible to rent as a gîte or as a hotel-style stopover, for a weekend, a seminar or a family gathering. The pool, however, is only open from 15 June to 15 September.
8 km walk from the chalets, thermal baths of Lectoure and Castéra-Verduzan, visits to Auch, bastide towns and Armagnac estates.
The chalets comprise a bedroom with a 140 cm bed, a second bedroom with two or three 80 cm beds, a shower room with WC, a kitchenette (microwave, fridge, coffee maker, hob) and a living room with sofa bed and television. The covered terrace is fitted with garden furniture, sun loungers and a barbecue. All the accommodation is air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter; water, gas, electricity and heating charges are included in the rate.
A communal room offers free Wi-Fi, with a library, a games library, a pool table and a table football. A washing machine, a tumble dryer, an ironing board and an iron are available. Options include breakfast, a baby kit, bed linen hire for week-long stays and a cleaning package. Dogs and cats are accepted for €2.50 a night.
The secure pool measures 12 m by 6, with shallow and deep ends, and a 4 m by 3 children’s paddling pool (40 cm deep) completes the offer, with sun loungers. These facilities are open from 15 June to 15 September. In July and August, the estate offers a delivery of bread and pastries; swimming lessons are available on request, for a contribution. Outside this period, the accommodation and communal areas remain available.
On the estate, children have a play area with swings and a trampoline; adults and children enjoy a mini golf course, a pétanque court, table tennis tables, a volleyball and badminton area and an archery range. In July and August, a daily programme is presented every Sunday at the welcome drinks: activities from age 3, mini-Olympics, pétanque tournaments, Gascon skittles, bingo or music quiz evenings, a weekly yoga and aqua aerobics session with a qualified teacher, and a group outing to Armagnac, Floc or foie gras producers.
A walking trail forms an 8 km loop from the chalets, and many mountain bike routes are found in the area. The surroundings offer Auch cathedral and its historic centre, bastide towns and abbeys, the Gallo-Roman villa of Séviac, the medieval siege camp of Larresingle, Lectoure with its thermal baths and hot-air balloon flights, treetop adventure at Pavie or canoeing on the Baïse.
Off-season, the website highlights visits (museums, Armagnac estates, traditional markets), walks, the thermal baths of Lectoure and Castéra-Verduzan, and adapted rates for seniors outside the main school holidays.
