The Les Rives de Courtès campsite, previously known as Les Lacs de Courtès, is at 23 route de Panjas in Estang, in the Gers, in the heart of Armagnac. Created in 1983 beside the village lake, it is rated three stars and was taken over in February 2026 by a family who have started renovation work and added new accommodation, including Safari tents.
The site offers basic pitches and comfort pitches with water and electricity, plus rental accommodation: four models of air-conditioned chalets of 30 to 45 m², two Safari tents of 25 and 35 m² with private bathrooms, a 50 m² air-conditioned pavilion with a private garden and mobile homes with two or three bedrooms. The campsite also welcomes motorhome owners and spa guests, and pets are accepted.
Opening period: the campsite’s website does not publish its opening dates and speaks of entertainment “in season”. A guide to motorhome stopovers announced, for the previous operation, that the campsite was open from 12 April to 31 October and that rentals were open all year. This information predates the 2026 takeover and is not confirmed: whether it is open in winter remains to be checked with the campsite before any booking.
The lake, accessible directly from the site, is the main asset of the place, especially for fishing. The campsite presents itself as a human-scale place that favours conviviality and simplicity over mass tourism.
The campsite lists modern washrooms accessible to people with reduced mobility, a laundry, wifi and a pétanque court. A team is on hand to give guests information, and dogs and cats are accepted, with a supplement according to the tourist office.
The guinguette (open-air café-bar) and the bar welcome campers for a drink or a meal, and the tourist office also mentions a snack bar. Two family swimming pools, including a paddling pool for the youngest, offer a way to cool off in fine weather; their operating period is not specified, as the campsite speaks only of swimming “during fine weather”.
The rental accommodation is well equipped: equipped kitchen in the mobile homes and the pavilion, terrace, air conditioning in most of them, a private garden with barbecue for the pavilion, a private bathroom in the Safari tents and the pavilion. Accepted payment methods are bank card, cheques, cash, bank transfer and holiday vouchers (chèques-vacances). Guests are welcomed in French and English.
On site, the day revolves around swimming, fishing in the lake, pétanque and walks around the pond. The tourist office also lists mini-golf, a children’s playground and a football pitch.
Entertainment takes place in season, mainly at the guinguette: themed evenings, friendly shared meals, braziers, dance nights, sports broadcasts, concerts, karaoke and blind tests. The exact schedule is not published, and you need to ask the campsite depending on the date of your stay.
Around Estang, the Armagnac region lets you discover bastides, producers’ markets, wine estates and hilly paths; the tourist office also mentions the Estang arena and tastings. The campsite points out the proximity of spa towns, which is of interest to spa guests. Outside summer, visits to villages and estates are the easiest activities to organise, but they depend on the campsite being open, which is to be confirmed.
Opening dates not published: to be confirmed with the campsite.
