The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region has 35 campsites on this portal, spread across the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Var, the Hautes-Alpes and the Vaucluse. Seventeen of them have verified off-season opening; seven are seasonal campsites that close for several months; eleven have no confirmed dates. Only the first seventeen are presented as open outside the summer.
This is the best-served area: the Bouches-du-Rhône has seven verified addresses. Marina Plage in Vitrolles, Le Neptune in Saint-Mitre-les-Remparts, Le Vallon des Cigales in Istres and La Pinède in Cornillon-Confoux welcome guests all year round; Santa Gusta, in La Ciotat, looks straight onto the bay. Les Amandaies, in Mouriès, offers six pitches on a farm, and La Brise de Camargue closes for a few weeks in autumn and at the end of winter. In the Var the proportion is lower: only three campsites out of ten, including Les Fontanettes in La Seyne-sur-Mer, Au Jardin de la Ferme in Six-Fours-les-Plages and La Gantesse in Saint-Zacharie, where only the mobile homes stay open in winter.
The Alpine department has five verified addresses, including Le Napoléon in Gap, open every day of the year, Au Blanc Manteau in Manteyer, La Source in Saint-Pierre-d’Argençon, Les Deux Bois in Baratier and Le Catinat Fleuri in Guillestre. Conditions vary a great deal: heated washrooms at one, reduced service at another, rental accommodation only at a third.
The Vaucluse has two verified addresses: the Bagatelle campsite, on the Île de la Barthelasse, which does not accept tents from November to the end of February, and La Montagne in Sorgues, whose washrooms are heated in winter. Seven campsites in the region remain seasonal addresses: Les 2 Rhône and Le Bouquier in the Vaucluse, Le Serre du Lac in the Hautes-Alpes and four establishments in the Var.
The coast suits late autumn and spring stays in a mobile home; in the mountains, you need to ask about heating, snow clearing and the shuttle to the ski resorts. In every case, ask precisely what stays open (pitches, rental accommodation, pool), the reception hours and the low-season rates, then confirm the dates directly with the campsite.
The region lends itself to off-season getaways. On the coast, the calanques of La Ciotat and Cassis, the bay of La Ciotat, the Ollioules gorges and the coastal path at Six-Fours-les-Plages can be explored without the summer crowds; in the Alpilles, Mouriès celebrates olive oil with its cooperative mill and its exhibition, and Les Baux-de-Provence is close by.
In the Southern Alps, the ski resorts of Risoul, Vars and Les Orres are about twenty minutes from the campsites, the Bayard plateau can be explored on snowshoes or by bike on the snow, and the Embrun market is held on Wednesday and Saturday mornings all year round. In Avignon, the winter calendar includes Cheval Passion, Les Hivernales and the Fêtes du vin, with the Via Rhona as a backdrop for cyclists.
Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
