Overview

Camping Aix-en-Provence covers 10 hectares at the foot of Mont Sainte-Victoire, about ten minutes by bike from the centre of Aix. Rated 4 stars, it offers 271 camping pitches and a park of chalets, wooden caravans and fitted tents. Marseille is 40 minutes away by car, Aix TGV station about twenty minutes, and the nearest bus stop five minutes on foot: you can therefore leave the car in the campsite’s free car park.

As for accommodation, the range runs from the Victoria chalet for one or two people to the 35 m² Portland chalet for six, by way of the Arizona model, half chalet and half tent, the wooden caravan and the Toile et Bois tent. The Ontario chalet is designed for guests with reduced mobility, and the washrooms are accessible as well.

Off-season opening: the official website states that the accommodation dedicated to business stays is open all year round. These are wooden mobile homes for one to five people, set in a reserved area of the campsite, with a private bathroom, equipped kitchen, air conditioning, sheets and towels included, and rates adapted to the length of stay. Booking fees for pitches are also waived from January to April and from October to December, which suggests that pitches can also be booked outside the summer. No closing calendar or winter rate is published: for a winter stay, it is best to confirm the dates with the team.

The campsite suits travellers who want to visit Aix and its region, motorhome owners and people travelling on business to Aix or Marseille.

Two recent washroom blocks, open to the outdoors, are cleaned several times a day, with a dedicated baby area. A laundry offers washing machines and dryers. You can hire a fridge or a baby kit (folding cot and high chair) or book an end-of-stay clean for an extra charge. Accommodation comes with sheets, towels, beds made on arrival and air conditioning, except the Sweet tent, which has a fan.

In the bastide, a renovated Provençal farmhouse, you can have breakfast, order bread and pastries the day before, enjoy a drink at the bar on the terrace or try a homemade pizza in the shade of the pines. A few emergency supplies and local products are sold at reception, and shops are 200 metres away. The heated pool, with its paddling pool, overlooks the campsite but opens in season only: from 3 April to 4 October in 2026. All year round, the small terrace at reception is a place for a coffee.

On site, days are shared between the pool in season, a pétanque court, a wooden play area for children, a table tennis table, a table football and an outdoor sports area. Electric-assist city bikes can be hired to reach the centre of Aix in about ten minutes; on foot, allow forty minutes.

The city itself deserves several days: Cours Mirabeau, Saint-Sauveur Cathedral, Provençal markets, museums and fountains. The Bastide du Jas de Bouffan, where Cézanne painted several canvases, is 6 km away, and the Bibémus quarries, which supplied the stone for many of Aix’s buildings, 7 km.

Nature lovers can head to Lac de Bimont, 12 km away at the foot of Sainte-Victoire and listed as a Natura 2000 site, for walking, mountain biking or a picnic. Further afield, the villages of the Luberon are 25 km away, Marseille and its Old Port 30 km, and the calanques of Cassis 50 km, with swimming, kayaking or boat trips.
