In Brittany, 17 campsites are listed on this portal: 10 in Ille-et-Vilaine and 7 in the Côtes-d’Armor. Eight have verified off-season opening, and these are the only ones presented as open all year round. One campsite closes for several months, and eight others announce winter opening that we have not confirmed.
The département has the largest number of year-round campsites, six out of ten. The Camping des Gayeulles, on the edge of Rennes, is open almost all year round, apart from the end-of-year week. Further east, Les Rives du Lac, in Châtillon-en-Vendelais, welcomes guests 365 days a year. At the Domaine de Trémelin, in Iffendic, it is the gîtes and mobile homes that stay open, not the pitches. Rives Nature, in Sixt-sur-Aff, offers heated cottages near La Gacilly.
Two campsites are verified there. La Corniche, in Plestin-les-Grèves, overlooks the bay of Loquirec and welcomes guests all year round, with the GR 34 running through the site. The Camping du Lac, in Caurel, lies on the shores of Lac de Guerlédan and announces no closure. The Panorama du Rohou, facing the island of Bréhat, closes for several months: it is a fine-weather address.
Seaside camping out of season remains rare in this selection: only one coastal campsite is verified, in Plestin-les-Grèves. The other addresses are geared to lakes, ponds and the city. Several sites declare off-season opening, such as Loc’Han in Plélo, with its heated pool and rental accommodation announced all year round, or the Camping des Deux Moulins, open from April to December: call before you travel.
Distinguish between pitches and rental accommodation, as in winter many campsites keep only their accommodation open. Ask about end-of-year closing dates, the state of the washrooms and the heating. Check the reception arrangements too: at La Corniche, the info point opens only in the evening in winter, and at Les Rives du Lac reception is open only from April to September, with booking compulsory the rest of the year. Book early for the February school holidays and for Christmas.
Out of season, the Brittany of lakes and trails is best discovered on foot. The GR 34 runs through the campsite at Plestin-les-Grèves, and the beaches of Pors Mellec and des Curés are nearby; around Caurel, you can walk along Lac de Guerlédan and visit the dam and the abbey of Bon-Repos. In Rennes, the Le Blizz ice rink and the covered municipal swimming pool, in the Gayeulles park, serve as a refuge on rainy days.
In the east, the Régalante greenway links Châtillon-en-Vendelais to the castles of Vitré and Fougères; the pagoda at La Selle-Guerchaise is freely accessible all year round. In Marcillé-Robert, a bird reserve borders the 100-hectare pond, and the Roche aux Fées is a few kilometres away. In La Gacilly, the Maison Yves Rocher museum stays open in winter.
Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
