Les 2 Bois campsite occupies a shaded meadow in Baratier, a small village in the Hautes-Alpes just three kilometres from the Serre-Ponçon reservoir and the Embrun leisure base. The resorts of Les Orres, Crévoux and Réallon are about twenty minutes by road. The site is rated 3 stars and keeps a human scale: 98 unserviced pitches on about 2.5 hectares, a manager who lives on site and a welcome that has stayed very personal.
As for accommodation, the campsite offers four contemporary mobile homes from the TAOS range, in versions of 27 m² (2 to 3 people) and 35 m² (up to 5 people), as well as two pod-type cabins of 13 m² for 2 to 3 people. Each has a fully equipped kitchen, a terrace with garden furniture, television and wifi.
As for opening, two cases need to be distinguished. The TAOS and the cabins are rented in all seasons, winter included, by the week or for a short stay from two nights; they are heated and air-conditioned. The unserviced pitch area, on the other hand, only opens from 14 May to 17 September 2026. In winter, reception operates by appointment, and the manager asks to be notified by phone or text for a same-day or next-day arrival.
This arrangement suits skiers from Les Orres and Crévoux, as well as off-season short-stay guests looking for self-contained accommodation rather than a hotel.
Skiing at Les Orres (20 min) and Crévoux (30 min), Embrun market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, hikes from the campsite.
The campsite focuses on simple comfort and a family atmosphere. The washrooms offer individual shower cubicles with hot water, an area for young children (bath, WC and low washbasin) and a cubicle adapted for disabled guests. The laundry room has two washing machines and a token-operated dryer, with a table and iron available on loan at reception; it is, however, not available in winter. A free-access freezer is reserved for ice packs, and a fridge or charcoal barbecue can be hired on booking.
Wifi is free around the communal areas, but deliberately absent from the pitches. The rental accommodation has wifi, television, an electric convector in each room and reversible air conditioning; beds are made on arrival, towels are supplied and cleaning is done at departure.
For swimming, the campsite has a heated pool open from 10am to 7pm, from late May to 17 September 2026; it therefore closes with the pitch season. A half-hour night swim is offered one evening a week. The L’Édonaï restaurant, on the campsite, operates in summer only (until 12 September 2026). Off-season, the Les Peupliers restaurant, a three-minute walk away, is open all year round and also serves breakfast, while the village bakery is 300 m away.
On site, children have play equipment with a hut and slide, a table tennis table and a table football in the restaurant. A pétanque court stays lit until 10.30pm. For childcare for ages 4 to 12, the campsite points to a leisure centre in the neighbouring village.
Around Baratier, hiking and cycling trails start directly from the site, with maps and leaflets at reception. The Embrun lake and Lake Serre-Ponçon, 3 km away, offer swimming, windsurfing and whitewater sports such as rafting or paddleboarding. Embrun has its historic heritage and a market every Wednesday and Saturday morning, all year round.
In winter, the Les Orres ski area is about 20 minutes away, Crévoux about 30 minutes, and Vars and Risoul are also accessible. The manager herself works in a ski resort during the season, which explains the by-appointment operation. In the village, the bar-restaurant Ô P’tit Bistrot stays open in winter, at lunchtime on weekdays.
TAOS mobile homes and cabins open all year round; unserviced pitches from 14 May to 17 September 2026.
