Les Oliviers campsite, run by the Groupement Camping Universitaire, stretches across a pine grove dotted with olive trees at the foot of the Maures massif, at 58 impasse Roux in Cavalaire-sur-Mer, in the Var. A footpath leads down to the Plage du Débarquement, 800 metres away. The site lies halfway between Le Lavandou and Saint-Tropez, making it easy to explore La Croix-Valmer, Le Rayol, Ramatuelle or Gassin.
The site offers 144 shaded pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, as well as around twenty rentals: six cabin-style mobile homes put into service in 2023, two Bora Bora tents installed in 2025, studios for 4 people and apartments for 6 people, one of them adapted for guests with reduced mobility. Food is provided on site by the Le Pin Parasol restaurant.
As for opening, the calendar published by the campsite runs from 5 January 2025 to 2 January 2027, with no announced break: the Cavalaire tourist office also lists it as open all year round, whereas the other campsite run by the same group, Le Paradou, only reopens from April to November. The published rates include a very low season category, from €14.45 a night for a pitch.
Outside the summer, the town remains a lively village, with its Provençal market on Wednesday mornings, its coastal paths and its hilltop villages to explore by car or on foot.
Provençal market on Wednesday mornings in Cavalaire, Cap Lardier and Maures massif trails, Var wine route.
The Le Pin Parasol restaurant is the main service on site: you can eat without leaving the campsite. Three washroom blocks are spread around the campsite, one of them equipped for guests with reduced mobility, and a 6-person apartment is also adapted for them. A TV room and a games room are available, along with a room for storing electric bikes, a children’s play area and a pétanque court.
As for accommodation, the published rates give an idea of the choice: from €22.75 a night for a cabin mobile home and €23.62 for a studio with terrace, up to €26.61 to €31.86 for the 2- and 3-bedroom apartments for 4 to 6 people. The Bora Bora tent reaches €38.83 in high season. The ground-floor studios and the upstairs apartments each have a terrace.
Swimming is in the sea. Cavalaire has four kilometres of fine sandy beaches, spread over five beaches (town centre, Parc, Dauphins, Pardigon and Bonporteau), with lifeguards in summer from June to September. The campsite has no swimming pool: the Plage du Débarquement is the closest, 800 metres away along the footpath.
On site, pétanque and the play area fill the days, and the campsite mentions a gospel choir activity. The rest takes place in Cavalaire and the surrounding area. The seafront, the pedestrian streets, the fishing harbour with its morning fish market and the Provençal market on Wednesdays on Place Jean Moulin can all be visited on foot. Night markets are held on Wednesdays and Sundays during the summer season.
The sea offers sailing, paddleboarding, windsurfing, kayaking, diving and jet skiing, while boat shuttles link Porquerolles and Port-Cros, the Golden Isles. On land, the Cap Lardier trails, the Jardin des Méditerranées at Le Rayol and the paths of the Maures massif, crossed by the GR 51 and GR 90, are well suited to hiking, with the Chartreuse de la Verne, founded in the 12th century, among the possible stops.
You can also follow the Provence Landing route, which recalls the operation of 15 August 1944, or the Var wine route, with about 300 estates. Saint-Tropez, Port-Grimaud, Ramatuelle, Gassin and Grimaud are within reach for a day trip.
