Les 2 Rhône

Les 2 Rhône campsite, presented under the name Lodges et Nature, is on chemin de Bellegarde, on the island of Barthelasse, in Avignon. This 700-hectare river island, between the two arms of the Rhône, faces the City of the Popes and Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. The site covers about 3 hectares of shaded ground, and a visitor quoted on the website reaches the old town in around ten minutes by bike.

The offer mixes accommodation and pitches: mobile homes for 4 to 6 people (24 to 33 m²), safari-style lodge tents of 20 to 38 m², a starry dome tent for two people, and 69 to 77 pitches depending on the page of the website, separated by hedges and of about 80 m² for tents, caravans and motorhomes. Dogs are accepted with up-to-date vaccinations, except categories 1 and 2.

Opening period: this is a seasonal campsite. The official website states that it closes on 8 November 2026 and reopens on 4 March 2027, about four months of closure. Another page of the website mentions a welcome all year round, but that wording is contradicted by this closure announcement: for a winter stay, you need to contact the campsite on 04 32 74 18 69.

Reception is open from 9am to 12.30pm and from 2.30pm to 7pm, the bar from 8am to 10pm, and the pool operates from April to the end of September.

The campsite highlights an outdoor pool, open from April to the end of September, and a play area accessible from 8am to 11pm. A bar opens every day from 8am to 10pm and the website also advertises a food offer. Wifi is chargeable and not included in the rates.

The pitches have a washroom block with laundry, washing machine and a cubicle for people with reduced mobility; a water point serves each lane, a waste disposal area is provided for motorhomes, and some pitches have electric hook-ups.

The lodges and mobile homes are equipped with a kitchen with fridge, hobs, microwave, kettle and coffee machine, a bathroom and a terrace with furniture. Several models are air-conditioned. Vehicles may only circulate between 7am and 10.30pm, and pedestrian access is free day and night.

On site, guests mainly enjoy the pool and the play areas in season. The website and its reviews mention bike rides to the centre of Avignon, around ten minutes away, and bike or electric scooter hire is mentioned on the island of Barthelasse.

The island is described as a place of calm and greenery a few minutes from the City of the Popes, with the Palais des Papes to visit. Among possible outings, the campsite also mentions the Parc Spirou Provence and the Wave Island water park, as well as visits to wine estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, departing from the campsite.

Further afield, the region offers Provence, the Luberon, the Alpilles, Mont Ventoux and the Pont du Gard, all destinations for day trips by car. These outings should be planned with the campsite’s winter closure in mind.
