Overview

La Source is a campsite with 25 pitches set in the middle of 5 hectares of trees and meadows, on the route de Valence in Saint-Pierre-d’Argençon, in the Hautes-Alpes. Rated one star, the campsite belongs to a property that also has guest rooms and a restaurant. The village has kept its rural identity, with its old churches, wash houses and fountains.

The atmosphere is that of a quiet place, where you wake up facing the mountains and sometimes spot deer in the morning mist. A reception hall is open to everyone, with a free area for picnics or watching a football match. Tents are also available to rent.

As for opening, the campsite welcomes guests all year round. From mid-April to mid-October, all facilities are in operation. From November to March, the campsite takes only self-contained caravans: the washrooms are closed, but 6 or 10 amp electricity, fresh water and waste disposal remain available, at off-season rates. For this period, the website mentions only self-contained caravans: the welcome is aimed at winter caravanners and motorhome travellers.

Rates range from €3 to €6 per adult per day, from €2 to €4 per child up to 10, and from €3.50 to €7 per pitch, tourist tax extra.

The campsite offers free wifi, hot showers, toilets, hot-water washbasins and washing cubicles, but these washroom facilities close from November to March. The pitches are shaded and have an electricity hook-up. The site also has a dishwashing sink, a barbecue, picnic benches and a shelter for bikes and mountain bikes. A water filling point and waste disposal are available all year round, which matters for motorhomes.

As for food, a restaurant with a terrace serves breakfast and a home-cooked evening meal, as well as cold drinks, homemade cakes and biscuits to go with tea or coffee. Fresh bread and croissants are offered, along with an ice depot. A free-access fridge is available from mid-April to mid-October, as are the table tennis table and the badminton and volleyball net.

Pets are accepted for a supplement, and payment is by cash, cheque or card. The campsite mentions neither a swimming pool nor heated washrooms. Anyone coming in winter must therefore be self-sufficient, particularly for heating their vehicle.
