Twenty-nine campsites with a spa are listed on the portal, 23 of them with verified off-season opening. The criterion covers hot tubs, saunas, hammams, Nordic baths and thalassotherapy. In low season, three cases stand out: the wellness area open all year, the private spa attached to a unit of accommodation (it works as long as the unit is rented) and the hot tub of a summer pool, which closes with the pool. Only the first two last through the winter.
In Grand Est, the Domaine de Longemer in Xonrupt-Longemer reserves its sauna, hammam and hot tubs for guests over 16, open all year round; La Tour du Stock in Langatte (Moselle) keeps its hammam, saunas and heated pools open all year. In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the sauna and massages at L’Imprévu in Vaulnaveys-le-Bas are available all year round, and Le Sevron, in the Ain, rents two chalets with a private hot tub on the terrace. In Occitanie, the Cabana’Spa at Azun Nature (Hautes-Pyrénées) combines a sauna, an infinity spa and a wooden Nordic bath, and the Chalets du Lac in Belcaire open their sauna and hot tubs all year round. In Gap, Le Napoléon offers massages all year.
Near Bordeaux, Ecôtelia in Le Nizan opens its wellness area 7 days a week (outdoor sauna, hammam, tea room), with private spas at 38 °C in several units. In the Deux-Sèvres, La Chagnée opens its spa and infrared sauna all year outside the school holidays, by time slot. In Saint-Pierre-d’Oléron, the Cercelles offer balneotherapy, sauna and hammam in a campsite open 365 days a year. In the Haute-Saône, Saône Valley rents a private spa and sauna, open until the end of December. In the Sarthe, Le Sans Souci makes its sauna and hot tub private; in Corsica, Riva Bella reduces its 500 m² thalassotherapy centre to Friday to Monday from early February to early April and from November to 20 December.
In Tourlaville (Manche), the spa at Collignon depends on a campsite that is closed from October to April: only the motorhome area stays open all year. In L’Houmeau, the hot tub goes with a pool open from April to the end of September. Four campsites, including Le Dolium and Le Bois Dormant, close for several months; two others declare off-season opening that is not confirmed.
Book the time slot or the chalet in advance: the hot tub at Le Sevron must be booked 24 hours ahead. Ask whether access is included in the price, whether it is reserved for adults, and whether it stays open during the school holidays.
The spa is a natural follow-on to a winter day outdoors. In the Val d’Azun, the campsite rents snowshoes, and you head to the private spa after cross-country skiing or sledging. In Belcaire, Camurac is less than 10 minutes away and the sauna awaits your return; in Xonrupt-Longemer, you ski at Xonrupt-Le Poli and then move on to the hot tubs.
Around L’Imprévu, the Uriage thermal baths are 10 minutes away, the château de Vizille 7 minutes, Chamrousse 22 km and Grenoble 20 minutes. On the shore of the Lac des Settons, the 15 km trail goes round the water before the sauna and hammam at Plage du Midi, depending on the period. In Linguizzetta, the hiking trails and the llama park stay open all year round.
For a weekend, favour accommodation with a private spa: the œnolodges at Ecôtelia heat their hot tub to 38 °C, and Saône Valley welcomes up to four people in its spa, with a restaurant open all year.
