Camping de Collignon is on rue des Algues in Tourlaville, a district of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, in the Manche department. It borders the sea, next to the Espace Loisirs de Collignon, a water sports hub with a sailing school, a sea kayak club, a diving centre and a supervised beach. The centre of Cherbourg is 4.4 km away, the Cité de la Mer 3.7 km and the château des Ravalet 2.8 km, according to a campsite guide.
Rated 3 stars, the site has 90 pitches, including 42 rentals: mobile homes with two and three bedrooms (one with a sea view) and air-conditioned studios. It is approved by VACAF and has a washroom block adapted for people with reduced mobility. Mobile home owners also have their place here, with ten months of operation a year, but they are not part of the offer open to holidaymakers.
On opening, the verified information concerns motorhomes: the campsite’s motorhome area takes crews all year round, with no reception and payment directly at the terminal, for 14 euros per 24 hours excluding tourist tax. According to motorhome area listings, the pitches only operate from 1 May to 30 September. The rental rates distinguish a high season, from 15 June to 15 September, from a low season; the opening dates of the rental accommodation in winter are not published and should be requested from the campsite.
Collignon beach, kitesurfing and sand yachting, Cité de la Mer and château des Ravalet less than 4 km away.
In the middle of the site, Le Maryline serves as a bar-brasserie, with burgers, chips and homemade pizzas, as well as a menu of treats. It opens on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 12pm to 11pm, and every day during school holidays, weather permitting. A large terrace lets guests enjoy it with family or friends, and the website also praises a bar with an unusual decor.
The campsite has a wellness area with an indoor and outdoor hot tub, as well as a sauna. Access costs 20 euros per hour per person, from 9am to 9pm, and is not allowed for children under 14. A campsite guide also mentions a small shop, a washing machine and a dryer, a children’s play area and a television room.
The mobile homes have a living room, kitchen, bathroom, toilet and terrace; the studios have a kitchenette, a shower and reversible air conditioning. Rentals run Saturday to Saturday in summer. For motorhomes, the area offers electricity, access to the washrooms and a nearby waste disposal point, with around ten reserved spaces according to the guides. The official website does not describe a swimming pool at the campsite; the neighbouring Espace Loisirs has one, a leisure pool.
The campsite is right next to Collignon beach, which is supervised and known for kitesurfing, sand yachting, sailing, swimming, diving and sea kayaking. The Ecole de voile et de vent de Tourlaville offers lessons and rentals there, and the neighbouring Espace Loisirs also has a leisure pool. The regional health agency rates the bathing water at Collignon as excellent.
In the campsite, the summer season follows a regular rhythm: karaoke on Wednesdays and Fridays, live concerts on Saturdays and a guinguette atmosphere on Sundays. A new outdoor play feature for children has been installed, and the bar terrace serves as a meeting place.
In the surrounding area, the Cité de la Mer, in Cherbourg, is 3.7 km away and the château des Ravalet 2.8 km. For an off-season motorhome stay, it is mostly beach walks, board and wind sports and visits in Cherbourg that fill the days.
Motorhome area open all year round, from 1 January to 31 December; pitches and campsite from 1 May to 30 September.
