L’Imprévu occupies three hectares of greenery in Vaulnaveys-le-Bas, at the foot of the Belledonne massif, about 20 minutes from Grenoble. The village is close to Lac de Laffrey and the Route Napoléon; the Château de Vizille is 7 minutes away, the Uriage thermal baths 10 minutes and the Chamrousse ski resort 22 km.
Rated 3 stars, the campsite is laid out around a pond where guests can fish. The Savoyard-style chalets, of 30 to 36 m², are linked by wooden walkways; the mobile homes and lodges, of 24 to 34 m², complete the rental accommodation, making more than thirty units in total according to the tourist offices (17 mobile homes, 20 chalets). The rentals are air-conditioned and have a terrace or private garden. Pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with water, electricity and drainage on some of the plots, add to the offer.
On opening, the official website does not publish a closing calendar, but gives specific low-season reception hours, Monday to Saturday from 8am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm, and Sunday morning. The Belledonne Chartreuse tourist office and Camping de France describe it as open all year round, and rental rates are published there from 5 January to 21 December 2026. The wellness area is announced as open all year round. The website promotes winter holidays in the snow.
Dogs are no longer accepted in the accommodation.
Skiing at Chamrousse (22 km) and Les 7 Laux (26 km), Uriage thermal baths 10 minutes away, Château de Vizille 7 minutes away, sauna and massages on site.
The campsite has a pool reserved for guests, with no published opening dates: it is best to ask for them before visiting off-season. A wellness area offers a sauna (€15 per half hour for up to three people) and massages by appointment, at €65 per hour; the website states that this area is open all year round. The hot tub, however, is reported out of order for an indefinite period.
The washroom block includes showers, toilets, washbasin cubicles, a baby area, a cubicle adapted for guests with reduced mobility, a chemical toilet disposal point and a laundry. A covered market, known as the little chalet, sells vegetables from the campsite, fruit from the Drôme, cheese and local charcuterie from April to the end of October. The snack bar, with its wooden terrace facing the pool, serves burgers, salads, waffles and ice cream from 1 July to 31 August.
A free play area, a games room with table football, a table tennis table and a volleyball court keep the youngest entertained. Outside summer, you should therefore count on the air-conditioned accommodation, the washroom block and the wellness area rather than on the snack bar and the market.
On site, guests fish for trout and carp in the pond, on a no-kill basis: the fish are returned to the water. In summer, the snack bar organises concerts, karaoke and bingo evenings, and children have a slide, a playhouse and spring riders. The Poney-club de l’Étang is 2 minutes away.
The campsite serves as a starting point for many activities. The Uriage golf course is 7 minutes away, the Vizille paintball site 10, the Lac de Laffrey water sports base 15 and the Chamrousse via ferrata 25; canyoning is practised in the Vercors. The website also lists hiking in the Belledonne massif among the possible outings.
Off-season, the website promotes winter holidays in the snow: the Chamrousse resort is 22 km away, Les 7 Laux 26 km. The Uriage thermal baths, 10 minutes away, and the Château de Vizille, 7 minutes away, can be visited all year round, and the village of Vaulnaveys-le-Bas serves as a quiet base for these excursions.
Open all year round according to the tourist office and Camping de France; rental rates published from 5 January to 21 December 2026.
