Ten campsites are listed in Ille-et-Vilaine, six of them with verified off-season opening: only these are presented as open all year round. They are spread across the Rennes metropolitan area, the Vitré and Fougères country, the Brocéliande country and the Vilaine valley. None is on the Emerald Coast: the département is best suited to a countryside, city or lakeside stay in the low season.
Five kilometres from the centre of Rennes, the Camping des Gayeulles, a three-star site with the Clef Verte label, is open all year round except from 25 December to 1 January. Its washroom blocks close as early as 2 November: in winter it suits motorhomes and caravans with their own sanitary facilities. In La Selle-Guerchaise, the municipal campsite offers 17 pitches, two of them for motorhomes, at €4 a night, with no closure. Further north, Les Rives du Lac, in Châtillon-en-Vendelais, welcomes guests 365 days a year between Fougères and Vitré, with booking compulsory out of season.
In Marcillé-Robert, the Camping municipal de l’Étang overlooks a 100-hectare pond and closes only for Christmas and New Year’s Eve; a chalet and mobile homes are rented by the night. At the Domaine de Trémelin in Iffendic, the gîtes and mobile homes are open twelve months a year, while the pitches are closed from 1 November to 31 March. In Sixt-sur-Aff, Rives Nature rents heated cottages and keeps its pitches open all year round, within walking distance of La Gacilly; safari tents, the lodge and the cabin open only in the warmer months.
The Camping des Deux Moulins, in Bourg-des-Comptes, announces opening from April to December. La Garenne de Pan in Bruz, La Maison Neuve in Chauvigné and the Ferme de Chenedet in Landéan declare an off-season offer that we have not confirmed: call them before you travel.
Ask whether you can pitch a tent or only rent a gîte, a chalet or a mobile home, whether the washrooms are open and heated, and which end-of-year closing dates apply. Book for the February school holidays and for Christmas.
From the Gayeulles, the centre of Rennes is 5 km away; from October to May, the Le Blizz ice rink, the covered municipal swimming pool and fitness trails can be found in the park. In La Selle-Guerchaise, the 6.4 km Pagoda circuit can be walked all year round, as can a visit to Vitré. Around Marcillé-Robert, the bird reserve at the pond and the Roche aux Fées are a few kilometres away.
In Iffendic, the bar at Lac de Trémelin offers belote and games evenings from October to March. From Châtillon-en-Vendelais, the Régalante greenway and the GR 37 lead to the castles of Vitré and Fougères. In La Gacilly, the Maison Yves Rocher museum can be visited all year round, on foot from Rives Nature.
Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
