Les Rives du Lac

Les Rives du Lac sits on the shore of a lake in Châtillon-en-Vendelais, in Ille-et-Vilaine, on rue Rouxière. The campsite is rated 3 stars and lies roughly halfway between Fougères and Vitré, two fortified towns with famous castles, about 50 minutes from Mont-Saint-Michel. The Régalante greenway, which links Nantes to Mont-Saint-Michel, passes a few steps away; the GR 37 long-distance path and a Camino de Santiago route are also close by.

The site offers grass pitches of 80 to 120 m², with 6-amp electric hook-ups, for tents, caravans and motorhomes, as well as a varied rental park: mobile homes for 4 and 6 people, a small chalet for 2 people, a hotel-style chalet, two wood lodge safari tents and a mini hiker’s tent set up facing the lake. A motorhome service area, renovated in 2021, is also open to vehicles passing through.

The campsite states that it is open all year round, from 1 January to 31 December. Out of season, booking is compulsory: reception is only open from 1 April to 30 September, from 9am to 12pm and from 3pm to 7pm, and a telephone helpline provides information the rest of the year. The gravel pitches are precisely there so that you can arrive at any time of year.

The campsite accepts dogs and cats, kept on a lead and with up-to-date vaccinations.

Walks on the Régalante greenway and the GR 37, fishing in the lake, visits to the castles and ramparts of Vitré and Fougères.

The washroom block, completely renovated for the 2026 season, has 6 individual shower cubicles, 12 washbasins, 6 toilets and an accessible toilet, an adapted bathroom and a baby-changing room. The laundry area has four large dishwashing sinks, a coin-operated washing machine, a table and an iron available to borrow.

A snack bar with a dining and games room opened in 2025 and was air-conditioned in 2026. It has billiards, table football, darts and board games, as well as a large shaded terrace overlooking the lake. It serves every day from 12pm to 9pm in July and August, then only on certain days from April to June and in September, and breakfasts can be ordered. It is not stated that it opens in winter. A fitted communal barbecue stands next to the snack bar.

The campsite delivers to your pitch, at the time you choose, breakfast for 5.80 € (hot drink, pastry, a third of a baguette, butter and jam) and bread ordered from the snack bar before 7pm the day before, if the bakery in Châtillon-en-Vendelais is open. The 4-person mobile homes (30 m²) have a fitted kitchen, television, a wooden terrace and a clothes airer; the 6-person model (37 m²) has three bedrooms. A heated swimming pool appears only as a project for 2028: there is no pool for now, and swimming in the lake depends on water quality.

The lake is the site’s main asset: you can fish for zander, pike or carp, and also go pedalling in a pedal boat. On site, a sports area has football, pétanque, tennis and table tennis, with racquets and balls to borrow, and a play area keeps children busy. The campsite also hosts themed evenings: mussels and chips with a concert in early July, the 14 July celebration organised in the village with fireworks over the lake, and a rock concert in late August.

To explore the surroundings, the Régalante offers 275 km of cycle route between Nantes and Mont-Saint-Michel, passing through Vitré and Fougères. These two towns are best explored on foot: Vitré’s medieval town and ramparts, and Fougères’ huge castle with its immersive trail. Mont-Saint-Michel is 50 minutes away, Paimpont and the gateway to the secrets of Brocéliande are listed among the outings, as is Cobac Parc for families.
