Overview

Camping du Lac is located in the hamlet of Kergoff, in the commune of Caurel (Côtes-d’Armor), with direct access to Lake Guerlédan. This 304-hectare lake, 12 km long, is the largest artificial lake in Brittany; it was created by the construction of the dam, completed in 1930. The Beau Rivage site, with its shops, restaurants and one of the largest landscaped beaches on the lake, is about 500 m away.

The site has 60 pitches, open to tents, caravans and mobile homes. The campsite provides a boat for its guests to explore the lake. As for rentals, there are Louisiane-brand mobile homes for 4 people and the Taos residence, an accommodation set deep in the forest with a view of the lake, with bed linen and cleaning included in the price. Please note: motorhomes and electric vehicles are not allowed on the site.

On the question of opening, the operator writes that it welcomes guests all year round, without stating any closure period. The rates distinguish the summer period (July-August) from the rest of the year, for both the week and the weekend in a mobile home: off-season stays are therefore available to book. No information on heating or winter washrooms is given: it is best to ask before booking a stay in the depths of winter.

The atmosphere is natural and calm, between forest and shoreline, far from the bustle of the big seaside resorts.

Staying off-season

Opening dates verified
Annual closure : None

Hiking on the GR 341 around the lake (40 km waymarked), fishing, visits to the dam and to Bon-Repos abbey.

Facilities

The campsite’s offer is deliberately simple: it is a modest-sized site, with no pool, restaurant or grocery shop on the grounds. Pitches for tents or caravans are charged per night, with separate rates for adults aged 13 and over, children under 12, vehicle, motorbike or trailer, electrical hook-up and pet. Vaccinated animals with a vaccination record are accepted provided they are kept on a lead. The tourist tax is 0.20 € per person over 13.

For meals, head to the Betty Food foodtruck, set up in the Kergoff cove, just steps from the campsite. Its vintage caravan and floating terrace welcome holidaymakers every day, with concerts and blind test evenings at the weekend. Further away, the Beau Rivage site brings together shops and restaurants about 500 m away, so you can do your shopping without getting back on the road.

For swimming, the Beau Rivage beach is described by the campsite as one of the largest landscaped beaches on Lake Guerlédan. The lake is also a place for fishing, from the shore or from the water. Mobile home rentals are requested by email only, and pitches are booked with a printable form, together with a signed set of site rules and a deposit. Details of the equipment in the rental units and the washrooms are not published on the website: they must be requested from the manager.

Lake Guerlédan is the heart of local life. From the campsite, you can fish from the bank, board the campsite boat, or head to the lake’s watersports base for kayaking, paddleboarding, rowing, water skiing or sailing. Beau Rivage beach is the place to swim and laze in summer.

Hikers have the GR 341 trail, which runs along the lake; the 40 km circuit is fully waymarked, on foot, by bike or on horseback, with horse rides possible along the same route. Around the lake, several visits are easy to combine: the Guerlédan dam and its museum, which recount the seven years of construction from 1923 to 1930, the Cistercian abbey of Bon-Repos, founded in the 12th century and surrounded by the Quénécan forest, the Bon-Repos tourist railway and the Kreiz Breizh rail bike, halfway between a bicycle and a train.

At the weekend, the Betty Food concerts and blind test evenings liven up the Kergoff cove. Off-season, the programme refocuses on what does not depend on summer: walking, cycling, fishing and cultural visits. Opening hours of the tourist sites vary by period and should be checked with each one.
