Ten campsites are listed in the Ain, eight of them with verified off-season opening. Only these eight are presented here as open all year round, with important caveats: at most of them it is the rental accommodation that stays open, while the camping pitches close from October to March.
In Trévoux, on the banks of the Saône, Kanopée Village rents out its mobile homes and chalets from 1 January to 31 December, while its pitches are open only from April to September. The same applies to La Grange du Pin in Val-Revermont, beside an 8-hectare lake, and to L’Escapade in Priay, on the Ain river, which also welcomes self-contained motorhomes in winter by reservation, with washrooms closed. In Meillonnas, the camping municipal de la Raza, beside a fishing pond, rents its accommodation by the month from 15 October to 15 April.
In Villars-les-Dombes, Le Large is open all year round, heated chalets included, 2 km from the Parc des Oiseaux. In Saint-Maurice-de-Gourdans, Sous le Moulin never closes and offers monthly rates; its mobile homes and studio are heated. In Saint-Étienne-du-Bois, the camping municipal Le Sevron closes only from 16 October to 2 November 2026. Finally, at an altitude of 834 m in Champdor-Corcelles, the camping municipal Le Vieux Moulin welcomes guests every day, with heated yurts and pods.
Le Champ d’Été in Reyssouze is a seasonal address. The Base de loisirs La Nizière, in Saint-Nizier-le-Désert, has not confirmed off-season opening: contact them before booking.
Always ask what stays open between October and March: pitch, rental accommodation or motorhome spot. Check the heating of the accommodation, the reception hours in winter (at Sous le Moulin, Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm) and any weeks of closure. For a long stay, compare monthly rates with nightly rentals.
On the Hauteville plateau, you can go snowshoeing and sledding in winter from Champdor-Corcelles. In the Bresse, the Seillon forest has 600 hectares of trails in Bourg-en-Bresse, and the Bouvent park is free from October to April; the royal monastery of Brou can also be visited. In the Dombes, you can stroll between the ponds, fish in the ponds and, from October to March, watch the traditional pond harvests. From Trévoux, the Voie Bleue can be cycled, and Lyon, about 30 km away, hosts the Festival of Lights in December. In Villars-les-Dombes, fishing in the campsite’s pond is possible outside the summer months. Around Saint-Maurice-de-Gourdans, you can cycle to the ViaRhôna, or to the markets of Meximieux and Montluel and to Pérouges, and in Priay you can fish in the Ain river, classified as first category.
Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
