Overview

La Raza municipal campsite is in Meillonnas, in the Ain département, in the heart of the Revermont, on the Chemin du Bois d’Amont, about 3 km from the village and at an altitude of 255 m. Exit 6 on the A40 makes it easy to reach. The site covers just over half a hectare of shady greenery beside a small fishing pond, and it was completely redeveloped by the commune in 2024.

The commune describes a quiet spot, suited to a simple stopover on the way to your holiday destination as well as to a longer stay. Tourist offices in the area count around ten pitches for tents and as many for motorhomes and caravans, plus chalets with the Gîtes de France label, one of them adapted for visitors with reduced mobility, mobile homes and a furnished studio. The campsite holds the “Ain pêche” and “Domaine de pêche” labels from the French national fishing federation (Fédération nationale de la pêche).

Two periods need to be distinguished for opening. Pitches and reception operate from 15 April to 15 October. Outside this season, the 2026 price list states that the accommodation can be rented by the month from 15 October to 15 April, with monthly rates listed for the chalets, the mobile homes and the studio. The Bourg-en-Bresse tourist office also lists one chalet as open every day from 3 January 2026 to 7 January 2028.

This arrangement suits anyone looking for equipped accommodation by the month, for example for a building site or an assignment in the area, as well as late-season anglers and walkers. The pitches remain closed from 16 October to 14 April.

Facilities

📶Free wifi
🧺laverie
🍖Barbecue

Comfort is what you would expect from a small municipal campsite. Pitches have an 8-amp electricity hookup, charged by the day, and on site there are dishwashing sinks, a barbecue area, a disposal point for grey and black water, access through an automatic barrier and a launderette with coin-operated washing machines and dryers. Wi-Fi is available, free in the chalets according to the tourist office. You can also buy your fishing permit at reception.

As for accommodation, the six chalets of 30 to 42 m² sleep 4 or 5 people; the 35 m² models have two bedrooms, a kitchenette, a shower room with toilet and a terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue. Le Brochet, at 42 m², is equipped for visitors with reduced mobility. Mobile homes for 4 people with two extra beds, a furnished studio for 2 people and a small chalet for 2 people complete the offer. Bed linen can be rented (bed made on arrival for 10 euros) and a cleaning package is available for 80 euros in the mobile homes.

The campsite has neither a swimming pool nor a restaurant. For swimming, the tourist office points to the supervised bathing area at La Grange du Pin nearby. Shops and the inn are in the village of Meillonnas, 3 km away. Reception is open from 9am to 12pm and from 5pm to 7pm during the season; out of season, arrivals are confirmed by phone a few days before the stay.

Activities & entertainment

🎣Fishing
🥾Hiking
🏓Table tennis
🎯Petanque

Fishing is the main activity: the pond is classed as a “Domaine de pêche” and “Ain pêche”, it holds pike, carp, roach, perch, pikeperch, bream, largemouth bass and tench, and purpose-built fishing spots are accessible to wheelchair users. Children have a play area with a slide under the trees, and guests can use a petanque court and a table tennis table.

The Revermont is well suited to walking and mountain biking, two activities the tourist office links with the campsite. The village of Meillonnas is known for its earthenware factory and its craftspeople, and a canoe club offers leisure activities on site. The paragliding site on Mont Myon is nearby, and Bourg-en-Bresse is home to the royal monastery of Brou, a monument well worth a visit.

The tourist office also mentions supervised bathing at La Grange du Pin in summer. In the late season and in winter, when the campsite only offers its monthly rentals, life revolves around walks, fishing and sightseeing: it is a quiet setting, better suited to restful stays than to lively holidays. No organised entertainment is announced on the official website.
