Fourteen campsites are listed in the Gironde, six of them with verified off-season opening: only these are presented as open all year. They are spread across the Bordeaux metropolitan area, the Arcachon basin, the Landes de Gascogne forest, the Libournais and the south of the département.
In Bruges, Bordeaux Lac, a 4-star site in the Yelloh! Village network, is open all year about fifteen minutes from the centre of Bordeaux; its high season runs from early July to the end of August, and the pool, kids’ clubs and entertainment operate only in that period. In Arcachon, Huttopia Arcachon keeps its chalets, several of them with electric heating, and its wooden caravans open twelve months a year, while the Toile et Bois tents open only in summer; the Ville d’Hiver is about ten minutes away on foot, and a wooden play area keeps children busy. In Salles, the Camping de Bilos, with 85 grassy pitches under oaks and pines, is open all year with a washroom block heated in winter, about forty kilometres from the Arcachon basin.
In Le Petit-Palais-et-Cornemps, Le Pressoir, rated 4 stars, takes pitches and rentals from 1 January to 31 December, 17 km from Saint-Émilion; its water park, with a heated pool, opens only from 15 June to 15 September, and heating of the washrooms is not specified. In Le Nizan, the Domaine Ecôtelia, rated 4 stars, offers 26 unusual accommodations open all year, including a palombière (a wooden pigeon-hunting hut) with electric heating, with a wellness area open seven days a week.
In Saint-Médard-de-Guizières, the Camping de Mon Village is open all year only for the area for motorhomes and self-contained vans; tents and caravans stay there from 1 April to 31 October. Two independent campsites announce a season: Le Chêne du Lac, a family campsite in Bayas, from April to October according to a tourist guide, and Les Hirondelles in Naujac-sur-Mer, “all year” according to one directory but from March to November according to another source. For the six other addresses (Beau Soleil in Gradignan, Khelus Club in Gujan-Mestras, La Sauzelle in Saint-Aubin-de-Blaye, Le Maine Blanc in Saint-Christoly-de-Blaye, Le Pot de Résine in Arès and the leisure campsite of the S.E.P. works council in Lacanau), no public data makes it possible to confirm either the opening or the offer.
First specify what stays open in the low season: pitches, rentals, pool, restaurant. Ask whether the washrooms and accommodation are heated: among the verified campsites, only Bilos, Huttopia Arcachon and the Ecôtelia palombière say so. Book early for the school holidays.
From Bordeaux Lac, the Cité du Vin, the museums and the old town of Bordeaux are fifteen minutes away, the Médoc vineyards six kilometres, and Saint-Émilion, the Arcachon basin or the Dune du Pilat can be visited in a day. In Arcachon, the Ville d’Hiver, with its villas and Parc Mauresque, can be explored on foot all year, as can the harbour and the oyster huts; in autumn, people pick mushrooms in the forest.
From Le Pressoir, the medieval town of Saint-Émilion is seventeen kilometres away and the vineyards can be explored by bike or mountain bike. In Salles, the Salles-Sanguinet cycle path starts next to the site and leads to the Vélodyssée, the forest can be explored on foot, the ocean beaches are 45 km away and the starry sky is a draw in winter; the Teich ornithological park can be visited in a day. In Le Nizan, a hiking trail, forest therapy and hot baths fill a weekend, with the Graves and Sauternais vineyards nearby. In Saint-Médard-de-Guizières, the Isle is good for fishing, and October brings a bal musette, a walk and the Octobre Rose pétanque tournament.
Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
