The Beausoleil campsite is on cours du Général-de-Gaulle in Gradignan, a town in the southern suburbs of Bordeaux, in the Gironde. The centre of Bordeaux is about twelve kilometres away, the site is reached via the ring road (exit 16), and a bus line serves the Beausoleil stop, at the terminus. The setting is described as quiet and shady.
It is a small site: 31 pitches for caravans and motorhomes, with 10-amp electricity, and a 24 m² mobile home for four people, with five possible beds as an extra. The campsite states that it has no pitches for the tent and car option, and that no long-term residents occupy the rental units or pitches: the site therefore remains geared to passing travellers.
Opening period: the campsite presents itself as open all year round. Its 2026 price list distinguishes a period from 1 November to 30 April, then spring and autumn, then summer, which confirms that it welcomes guests in the depths of winter. The washrooms, supplied with hot water, are heated in winter. The mobile home is rented by the week all year round, with a lower rate from January to May and from October to December, outside school holidays. Reception on site adapts its hours to the season, with reduced opening at weekends between October and early May.
This formula suits a stopover near Bordeaux, a stay to visit the region, the vineyards and the Bassin d’Arcachon, or an off-season business trip.
Walks at Lac Vert, in Madavit park and at the Cayac priory, visits to Bordeaux about 12 km away.
The campsite focuses on simple, useful services for a stopover or a short stay. The washrooms have hot water and are heated in winter, with facilities accessible to people with reduced mobility. A laundry room equipped with a washing machine and a tumble dryer is available, and wifi is free throughout the site. A bread service can be arranged on request, while the nearest bakeries are about 1.3 km away along a cycle path.
Waste sorting is in place, and the management speaks English and Spanish as well as French. An electric bike rental, with equipment and insurance, is offered by the day; it is best to book. Payment can be made in cash, by bank card from 20 euros or with holiday vouchers (Chèques-Vacances), up to half of the bill.
For meals, the campsite has no restaurant. A bar-tabac is 200 m away, a convenience store with a cash machine and a newsagent-tobacconist is next door, and the centre of Gradignan, 3 km away, has a supermarket. Several lunch addresses are listed within 3 km, open Monday to Friday. There is no swimming pool on site. At reception, the management hands out information on places to visit, in particular Bordeaux, with ways of getting there.
The campsite does not organise entertainment: its appeal lies in peace and quiet and its proximity to Bordeaux. Days revolve around walks on foot or by bike. Lac Vert, 2 km away, offers a loop of about 2 km for relaxing. Madavit park, about 1.5 km away, has a media library, a skate park, football pitches and a large wooded park. The park of the priory of Cayac, a former stage on the Tours route to Compostela, runs along the Eau Bourde river; the priory ruins have been listed as historic monuments since 1937, and play areas await children there.
Cycle paths from the campsite lead to the neighbouring shops, and the electric bike rental makes longer outings easier. By car or bus, Bordeaux can be visited at about 12 km, as can the Gironde vineyards and châteaux and the Bassin d’Arcachon, which the campsite highlights for its stays.
Off-season, these parks and walks remain accessible, and a visit to Bordeaux suits an autumn or winter stay well. The water sports and swimming of summer are not offered on site.
