Four campsites are listed in the Charente, three of them with verified off-season opening: Le Camping de la Rivière, En Campagne and La Forêt de Tessé. The fourth, on the riverbank, is a seasonal address. All are in the countryside, between the Limousin part of the Charente, the Vienne valley and the Grande Champagne vineyards.
In Exideuil-sur-Vienne, the Camping de la Rivière, rated 3 stars, opens its campsite, mobile homes, chalets and motorhome area all year round; only the boats and the restaurant are limited to mid-June to mid-September. Canoeing down the Vienne and a low-season rate from 1 September to 9 July add to the offer. In Saint-Christophe, En Campagne, rated 3 stars, offers 29 spacious pitches and seven gîtes, with no imposed arrival days; its high season runs from 11 July to 23 August 2026 and the dates of services outside summer are to be confirmed.
In La Forêt-de-Tessé, La Forêt de Tessé has ten pitches, bell tents and a 4-star gîte heated by a wood-burning stove. The low season runs from 1 September to 30 June, the washrooms are heated in winter, and the pool operates only from mid-May to mid-September. Winter dates are still to be confirmed.
The Camping de Bourg-Charente, with 35 pitches in the heart of the vineyards between Cognac and Angoulême, closes for several months: book it for spring, summer or autumn.
Ask whether the bell tents, the pool and the restaurant are open on your dates. Check that the washrooms and the accommodation are heated, then have any winter booking confirmed in writing.
Around the Camping de la Rivière, outings are made on foot or by bike. The Gallo-Roman baths of Chassenon are 12 km away, the rail bike ride at Roumazières 6 km and Oradour-sur-Glane 30 km.
In Saint-Christophe, the quiet roads of the plateau are good for walks, with producers’ markets and a village with a Romanesque church and a feudal tower. From La Forêt de Tessé, you can visit the stone villages by bike, with bikes to rent on site, or take a day trip to Angoulême, Cognac or La Rochelle.
Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
