the guide

Everything about the campsites open all year round in Landes

Seven campsites are listed in the Landes, three of them with verified off-season opening: Les Forges in Ychoux, Les Chalets d’Uza and Les Échasses in Gastes. All three sit in pine forest, away from the ocean, in the Born area and around the lake of Parentis-Biscarrosse. Winter in the Landes is best enjoyed here by bike, on foot and in peace and quiet.

Open all year round in the Landes forest

Camping des Forges, a two-star site on the lake of the same name in Ychoux, is open for pitches, motorhomes and mobile homes from 1 January to 31 December; only the bungalows close, from 28 September to 10 May. The cycle path runs past the entrance and the campsite holds the Home Vélo label, which makes it a logical stop on the Vélodyssée. In Uza, Les Chalets d’Uza rent wooden chalets and a three-bedroom mobile home from January to December, with no bare pitches. At Les Échasses in Gastes, mobile homes can be booked all year round, with a two-night minimum off-season, while the bare pitches, the wooden caravan and the campétoile are only open from mid-April to mid-October.

Seasonal addresses or opening to be confirmed

Domaine Les Oréades, a five-star site on the lake of Sanguinet, closes for the low season: the 2026 closure runs from 20 September to 26 March 2027. The opening dates of the municipal campsite La Chêneraie in Gabarret, of Les Fontaines de Nava in Biscarrosse, a residential campsite that mostly sells mobile homes, and of the small farm campsite run by Gisèle Duprat Laffitte in Soustons are not published: contact them before counting on them in winter.

Choosing a campsite open all year round in the Landes

Check which option stays open: rental, bare pitch or bungalow. The three verified campsites do not give details on washrooms and heating, so ask, and also ask about the facilities closed in winter (pool, snack bar). Shops are five minutes from Uza and one kilometre from Ychoux.

to discover

What to see and do in Landes

Off-season, the Landes are best discovered through forest and water. From Ychoux, the cycle path leads to Parentis-en-Born, about 7 km away, and the Ychoux arboretum offers two waymarked trails through the pine forest; the lake of Les Forges attracts anglers. At Gastes, the coastal path runs along the lake and reaches Biscarrosse, about 9 km away; sailing and windsurfing remain possible all year round depending on the campsite.

From Uza, you can reach the beaches of Contis and Cap de l’Homy, about 10 km away, by bike or car, and the Mimizan market, 15 minutes away. The Contis lighthouse is climbed by its 183 steps. From Ychoux, the Bassin d’Arcachon is about 40 minutes away. The village of Ychoux also has its church of Notre-Dame and a chapel overlooking three springs said to be miraculous, and Gastes its Étangs du Nord, a listed site, with the Sainte-Quitterie fountain.

our method

How we select the campsites in this localisation

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
