The Le Maine Blanc campsite is a small family campsite at 335 route du Maine Blanc in Saint-Christoly-de-Blaye, in the north of the Gironde. The surrounding area includes the town of Blaye and its UNESCO-listed citadel, the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux vineyards and the banks of the estuary. The setting is described as wooded, quiet and natural.
The website states 66 shaded, partly shaded or sunny pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, as well as nine mobile homes. Elsewhere, it mentions 94 pitches in total, split between residential pitches and tourist pitches: the share actually open to passing holidaymakers should therefore be checked. The website announces accessibility for people with reduced mobility, as well as a service point for motorhomes. Pets are allowed.
Opening period: the website displays the wording “campsite open all year round” and offers low-season rates as well as a section for “workers on assignment” (ouvrier en mission), but it publishes no opening or closing dates. The pool is only accessible from mid-June to the end of September, sometimes until mid-October, and the bar with food truck closes in mid-October. Off-season opening, in particular for the mobile homes, therefore remains to be confirmed with the campsite on 05 57 42 52 81.
Services remain simple, in the image of a small family site. Reception is open from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 7pm, with extended hours until 9:45pm in high season. The secure gate is closed from 10pm to 6am, and a number is provided in case reception is unattended. Wifi is free, water fountains are available and you can order bread and pastries every day.
A laundry works with tokens sold at reception: 4 euros for a washing machine and 2 euros for 20 minutes of drying. Detergent is not provided and is available at the shop. The bar and the food truck serve until 8pm, in high season only, from June to mid-October.
The outdoor pool, neither covered nor heated, is open from 10am to 8pm between mid-June and the end of September, or even mid-October depending on the weather. For accommodation, the mobile homes are named after flowers: Sabot de Vénus for 5 beds, Belle Dame or Rose Trémière for 4, Le Bleuet for 6 with three bedrooms, Capucine for 2 and Le Graminé for 4, the latter without air conditioning or a terrace.
The campsite focuses on peace and simplicity rather than an entertainment programme: the website publishes no kids’ club and no organised evenings. Relaxation takes place around the pool in summer and under the trees of the site, in a setting described as natural and restful.
Outings are made in the surrounding area, in the north of the Gironde. The town of Blaye, with its UNESCO-listed citadel, is the regional landmark. Around it, the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux vineyards and the estuary offer ideas for visits, and the website presents the surrounding villages as worth a detour, without listing them. Precise distances can be asked at reception.
The campsite also welcomes workers and employees on assignment, for whom a rate card exists, which points to a clientele of business stays outside the holidays. Visitors from outside the campsite must go through reception, and their pool access is arranged with reception. For any special request, the campsite invites guests to contact it directly through the section provided on its website.
Opening dates not published: to be confirmed with the campsite (announced as “open all year round” on its website).
