The municipal campsite of Saint-Médard-de-Guizières is tucked away in the Gironde, at the end of rue du Gât, on the bank of the Isle. It is reached from the A89 motorway via exit 11, towards Saint-Médard and then Coutras on the D21, before arriving at the municipal pool, which adjoins the site. The river runs alongside the site, and its banks, maintained by the campsite, are easy to explore on foot or rod in hand.
The site offers about thirty bare pitches, very shaded and quiet, reserved for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with electric hook-ups and water points. Pets are accepted. There are no mobile homes or chalets to rent: the offer rests entirely on pitches. The commune has entrusted bookings to the Camping-Car Park platform, which also manages the adjoining 25-place stopover area.
As for opening, the situation works on two levels. The area welcomes motorhomes and self-contained vans throughout the year, every day. Tents, caravans and vans that are not self-contained are admitted only while the washrooms are open, from 1 April to 31 October according to the calendar published for 2026. In winter, the place therefore suits motorhome travellers passing through, not campers under canvas, and the washrooms are not open all year.
Local life also carries on off-season: the town hall’s calendar announces in October a bal musette, a walk and a pétanque tournament for Octobre Rose, as well as a Halloween evening.
In October: bal musette, Octobre Rose walk and pétanque tournament, Halloween evening in the village.
The campsite’s facilities remain simple and functional. Each pitch has an electric hook-up, water points are spread around the site, and a motorhome service station completes the set. Washrooms and showers adapted for people with disabilities are available. These sanitary facilities operate only from 1 April to 31 October; outside this period, the area remains open to self-contained vehicles only.
On site, a snack-restaurant-style eatery, also presented as a guinguette, offers meals and entertainment. It is open every day except Monday, with live music evenings at weekends according to the booking platform. Short-stay parking is possible: five hours with access to services for 6 €, or a 24-hour night for about 15 € including tourist tax. Discounts of 10% (from 7 to 21 consecutive days) and 15% (beyond 21 days) apply to longer stays booked direct.
For swimming, there is the neighbouring municipal pool, a few steps from the campsite entrance; paid swimming lessons are offered there. The campsite has no water park or spa, and announces neither a laundry nor a grocery: you shop in the town. For children, a play area and a city-stade are accessible right nearby, as are a skate park and tennis courts.
The river is the first playground. The Isle is good for fishing from the adjoining banks, a launch ramp lets you put boats and kayaks in the water, and the campsite serves as the starting point for Gironde Aventure Kayak, an activity the commune links with the Saint-Seurin-sur-l’Isle canoe-kayak club. A picnic area set up by the water invites you to extend the day.
Around the campsite, sporty visitors have plenty to do without taking the car: tennis, city-stade, skate park, pelota wall, pétanque and boules lyonnaises, with introductory sessions announced in partnership with the local club. Mountain bikers and hikers have several routes, including a 16.5 km loop around Saint-Seurin-sur-l’Isle that passes locks and old mills. Horse riding is available at the Saint-Seurin-sur-l’Isle pony club, and a motocross track is in Saint-Christophe-de-Double.
Off-season, the programme stays lively: the town hall’s calendar announces a bal musette in early October, the walk and pétanque tournament of the Octobre Rose campaign in mid-October, then a Halloween evening on 31 October. A leisure centre (ALSH) also organises activities for the commune’s young people during school holidays, and the pool, tennis courts and skate park remain municipal facilities next to the site.
Motorhome area open all year round (motorhomes and self-contained vans); tents and caravans from 1 April to 31 October.
