Eighteen campsites are listed in the Vendée, ten of them with verified off-season opening. The others are either seasonal or to be confirmed. Many Vendée campsites keep only their rental accommodation open in winter: read the dates carefully before booking.
In Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, the Domaine Villa Campista, three stars, rents its heated accommodation from 1 January to 31 December, 6 km from the beaches; its water park is open only from May to September. The Domaine des Pins, a four-star site in a state forest, keeps its rentals and motorhome area open all year, 1.2 km from the Parée Préneau beach; its water park is closed from November to Easter. In Le Givre, La Grisse welcomes guests on pitches and in heated mobile homes from 1 January to 31 December, ten minutes from the beaches of La Tranche.
In Sainte-Cécile, Camping municipal La Rivière rents nine chalets all year, for a minimum of two nights. At Les Ouches du Jaunay, in Martinet, chalets are rented by the night all year; at Le Trèfle à 4 feuilles, in Commequiers, the mobile homes stay open while the pitches close in winter. In Apremont, Les Charmes says it is open all year, with no closing dates published.
Three campsites focus on monthly rentals: L’Ambois in Mouilleron-le-Captif, La Venise du Bocage in Nesmy, whose rental accommodation is open from June to April, and Les Rulières in Saint-Valérien, from September to April.
Buette in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez and La Vertonne in Grosbreuil are seasonal campsites, open from April to October. Six others, including Le Ragis, announced from mid-February to mid-December, have no verified off-season opening. Ask whether the rental accommodation is heated and whether the pool is open: Les Charmes, Le Trèfle à 4 feuilles and Les Rulières have a heated indoor pool, accessible from April to autumn.
In winter, the coast is best discovered by bike: cycle paths in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, a forest walk to the Parée Préneau, the beaches and covered market of La Tranche-sur-Mer, the Payré nature reserve in Jard-sur-Mer. In Sainte-Cécile, nine walking trails of 6 to 25.5 km start from the village, and the Puy du Fou is about 25 km away.
In Apremont, an escape game and a connected walk run all year, the lake remains accessible and the château offers events at All Saints’ time. In Commequiers, the château, its park and the rail bikes take up half a day, and the beaches of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie are 17 km away. At Les Rulières, fishing is possible on three ponds, by reservation. From Saint-Valérien, you can reach the Marais poitevin, the abbeys of Maillezais and Nieul-sur-l’Autise, or the Les Sables-d’Olonne coast. In Nesmy, La Roche-sur-Yon hosts festivals and competitions at the Vendéspace. At Les Ouches du Jaunay, three trails of about 10 km start from the campsite, with a walk around the pond and disc golf, and the beaches are less than 30 minutes away.
Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
