Overview

Les Ouches du Jaunay occupies a wooded 7-hectare estate in Martinet, a rural village in the Vendée bathed by the Jaunay, about a quarter of an hour’s drive from the ocean. The beaches of Brétignolles-sur-Mer, Les Sables-d’Olonne and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie are less than thirty minutes away by road.

Rated 3 stars, the site stands out for its small size: only fifteen chalets, set on large plots of 195 to 277 m² separated by hedges. Six models are offered, from 30 to 38 m² for 4 to 6 people, with or without a covered terrace. The website mentions no bare pitch for a tent, caravan or motorhome: the offer is limited to rental accommodation. A 1.5-hectare lake, labelled “Gîte de Pêche”, lies below.

As for opening, the campsite says it welcomes holidaymakers all year round: the chalets can be rented by the night or by the week, in summer and in winter, including for a night on a business trip, a spring weekend or a summer week. In low and mid season, bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance, subject to availability. The pool, for its part, is open only from 15 June to 15 September, and the site mentions neither an annual closure nor heating in the accommodation.

One chalet, the Origan model, is fitted out for guests with reduced mobility, with an access ramp and adapted equipment.

Facilities

📶Free wifi

🛏️Bed linen rental
🍖Barbecue
🎲Game room

The facilities are simple and designed for a hassle-free stay. A 40 m² common room is open to guests: free library, board games and tourist information to plan outings. It can also be hired, outside July and August, for a family or friends’ get-together, at €85 a day, and the chalets can then house all the guests on site.

Communal barbecues are available, subject to prefectural orders in case of drought or heatwave. A laundry room has one coin-operated washing machine and one dryer, and the campsite hires out sheets and towels on request. Wifi is free in the chalets, an 18-space car park at the entrance is accessible day and night, and ANCV holiday vouchers are accepted. Baby cot, high chair and baby bath are lent at no extra charge; dogs are allowed for €20 per stay.

For swimming, a 12 m by 5 m outdoor pool, 0.80 to 1.50 m deep, is open from 15 June to 15 September, weather permitting. It is neither covered nor heated and swimming is unsupervised. The rest of the year, no pool is available: the common room, the laundry room and the chalets are therefore what serve autumn, winter and spring stays. The campsite announces neither a restaurant nor a shop; you need to plan your shopping in the village or in neighbouring towns.

Here, the programme revolves around nature and outdoor games. The 1.5-hectare Ouches lake is directly accessible from the campsite for fishing, and a disc golf course, new in 2026, has been laid out all around the lake; discs can be hired by the day or bought at the town hall and at the Les Achards tourist office.

On the estate there is a multisport court for basketball, handball and football, a volleyball and badminton court, an outdoor table tennis table, a children’s play area and four pétanque lanes that make it possible to organise tournaments among neighbours. Three walking trails of about 10 km start from the campsite and cross the Martinet countryside, including the chemin des feux de la Saint-Jean. In the last days of June and the first days of July, the Ouches site, next to the campsite, hosts local festivals.

Around the campsite there is no shortage of outing ideas: beaches and water sports, the Vendée islands, marshes, forests and cycle paths, but also the Puy du Fou, the château d’Apremont, Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, the tourist train of the Vendée railway, La Roche-sur-Yon or Les Sables-d’Olonne. Off-season, the walking trails, strolls around the lake and disc golf are best suited, as the campsite reports no organised entertainment at those times.
