Seasonal campsite: our checks show it closes for several months a year. Check the opening dates before booking.
La Chêneraie municipal campsite is run by the commune of Gabarret, a small town of around 1,500 inhabitants in the south-east of the Landes, where it meets the Gers and the Lot-et-Garonne. Mont-de-Marsan is about 45 km to the west, and the spa town of Barbotan-les-Thermes is nearby. The site is a short walk from the centre, near a station served by the TER.
It offers 36 shaded pitches for tents, vans, motorhomes and caravans, as well as four mobile homes and ten gîtes for those who prefer solid-walled accommodation. Packages are available for spa guests heading to the Barbotan thermal baths. In summer, the campsite lives to the rhythm of the local festivals, with bandas and Landes-style bullfights in the town’s arena.
Opening period: this is a seasonal campsite. The commune announces it from March to October, with no precise start or end date published on its website, and it is therefore closed in winter. The 2026 rates are published as a notice on the town hall’s website. To arrive at the start or end of the season, it is best to call 05 58 44 92 62 to confirm the dates.
The site suits a quiet stay, with the family or as a stopover on the route to the South-West, in a rural, tree-lined setting.
The campsite has a washroom block accessible to guests with reduced mobility, with hot water, and a token-operated washing machine. Wifi is free. The motorhome pitches are equipped with running water and electricity.
A barbecue area allows outdoor cooking, and pets are accepted. For swimming, guests can use the neighbouring community pool, directly adjacent to the site, which only opens in July and August. The shops and restaurants of Gabarret are nearby and listed on the town hall’s website, as are the markets in the area. Outside the summer months, the pool is closed: swimming should therefore not be expected in spring or autumn.
On site there is a pétanque court, a table tennis table, a volleyball court and a badminton court. Days can also be spent on foot or by bike on the country lanes around the commune.
Gabarret lives to the rhythm of rugby, deeply rooted locally, and of summer festivities with bandas and bodegas, along with local specialities: foie gras, asparagus, pastis landais, croustades and armagnac. The nearby spa town of Barbotan-les-Thermes attracts spa guests and visitors seeking wellness. The neighbouring villages of Cazaubon, Labastide-d’Armagnac, Eauze and Roquefort round out the possible outings, in the world of Armagnac.
Seasonal campsite: open from March to October (exact dates to be confirmed with the town hall), closed in winter.
