Five campsites are listed in the Saône-et-Loire, two of them with verified off-season opening. Between the southern Morvan, the Charolais-Brionnais and the Mâconnais vineyards, this Burgundy département mainly offers waterside stopovers for a low-season break.
In Étang-sur-Arroux, Les 2 Rives is a three-star campsite open all year round, pitches and rentals alike, with no closure. It lies between the Mesvrin and Arroux rivers, with a washroom block heated in the shoulder season and kayaking from the campsite. There are mobile homes, Tit’Home units, tents and lodge tents, and reception is staffed daily in high season only: let them know when you will arrive in winter.
In Laives, Les Voiles de Laives welcomes guests all year round, on pitches and in rental accommodation, with bookings by the night. Its mobile homes are heated and air-conditioned, and the Natura 2000 site of the three lakes offers a water sports centre, although supervised swimming only takes place from June to August. Rooms with lake views can also be booked by the night, handy for a weekend stopover.
In Chambilly, Estefana, a small, rustic campsite with guest rooms and the Home Vélo label, closes for several months; a table d’hôte is offered. In Gueugnon, the municipal campsite Chazey only opens its pitches in July and August, although five accommodations are rented all year round; the motorhome service point operates from 1 May to 31 October. For Le Raisin d’Or, in Clessé, off-season opening remains to be confirmed.
Specify whether you want a pitch or a rental, as openings differ. Ask whether the washrooms and accommodation are heated, and book long weekends in advance. Among the campsites of the Saône-et-Loire, the one beside the Laives lake suits nature stays, the two-river one suits kayaking.
Around Laives, the three-lake circuit can be walked all year round, fishing is possible, and you can visit châteaux and villages of southern Burgundy. From Étang-sur-Arroux, the rivers can be paddled by kayak from the campsite, and the southern Morvan remains within reach. In Clessé, the campsite sits in the middle of the Mâconnais vineyards, between the Mâconnais and the hedged farmland of the Charolais-Brionnais. Its shaded pitches of 200 m² and its pool make it more of a summer address, by the season or by the month.
For an off-season stay, therefore, choose the two verified campsites: one for the river and the southern Morvan, the other for the lakes, with heated washrooms or accommodation. Chambilly, with its Home Vélo label, is better suited to cyclists in spring and autumn.
Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
