Three campsites are listed in Eure-et-Loir, between the Beauce plain, the Avre and the Eure. None currently has verified off-season opening: this département therefore does not yet offer an address whose welcome in the depths of winter we can guarantee. This page distinguishes what is established from what remains to be confirmed with each campsite.
In La Ferté-Vidame, at the edge of a forest, beside a lake and facing the château, Les Abrias du Perche has a heated pool and rents mobile homes as well as hikers’ cabins; its off-season opening dates remain to be confirmed. In Vert-en-Drouais, in the Avre valley, Les Étangs de Marsalin borders a pond and a river, popular with anglers, and has a service area for motorhomes. The campsite has been described as open all year round, but this information is not verified: call before you travel.
In the Eure valley, Les Îlots de Saint-Val, in Villiers-le-Morhier, closes for several months: it is a seasonal address. This three-star campsite has 157 pitches in three ranges, beside the water, near the château de Maintenon and the Véloscénie. It carries the Trans Euro Trail label for welcoming motorcyclists, and its railway station is 50 minutes from Paris.
Before booking, ask for the exact opening dates, any annual closure and the type of accommodation kept available in winter: bare pitches, mobile homes or a motorhome area. Also check whether the washrooms and accommodation are heated. Pets are accepted on most pitches and accommodation at Les Abrias du Perche: mention this when booking. The three campsites in Eure-et-Loir do not have the same facilities, and only the heated pool at Les Abrias du Perche is mentioned.
The three campsites give access to sites that can be visited out of season. From La Ferté-Vidame, Chartres and its cathedral are a few minutes away by car, and the nearby forest can be explored on foot. At Vert-en-Drouais, the campsite lies on the Way of St James to Santiago de Compostela, ideal for walking, and fishing is possible on the pond and the river. From Villiers-le-Morhier, the château de Maintenon and the Véloscénie can be reached by bike, which suits spring or autumn outings in the Eure valley.
Les Abrias du Perche rent hikers’ cabins, an idea for a nature stay beside the lake, facing the château of La Ferté-Vidame. At Les Étangs de Marsalin, pétanque goes with the fishing. At Les Îlots de Saint-Val, the village railway station links to Paris in 50 minutes, which suits a short spring or autumn stay.
Every open all year round campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
