Overview

Les Abrias du Perche occupies a site of just under three hectares in La Ferté-Vidame, in Eure-et-Loir, north of the Perche regional nature park (1 route de la Lande-sur-Eure, 28340). The campsite is rated 3 stars and run by a couple, Sonia and Alexandre. The park of the Château de La Ferté-Vidame is 300 metres away and the Maison de Saint-Simon museum about a kilometre.

The accommodation includes 28 unequipped pitches of 50 to 80 m², separated by hedges and all with electricity, as well as five chalets and seven mobile homes for two to eight people. There is also a two-bedroom wooden caravan and a small, unusual one-room accommodation without washroom facilities. None of the rentals is air-conditioned. The campsite also has a bar-restaurant with snack bar, a covered pool heated to 26 °C, a play area with a climbing wall and a pétanque ground.

Opening period: this is a seasonal campsite. It announces its welcome from 1 March to 30 November and is therefore closed from December to the end of February. The restaurant, for its part, specifies a closure from 1 December to 28 February, except for private events by reservation. Outside these dates, no holiday stays are planned: for any special request in winter, you must contact the campsite on 02 37 37 64 00.

Reception is open from 3pm to 6pm, with telephone cover from 9am to 11am in July and August. The campsite also hosts groups and events, with rentals able to accommodate up to 72 people.

The services are those of a medium-sized family campsite. The washroom block is heated and accessible to people with reduced mobility. Wifi covers the whole site at no extra charge, and a laundry has a washing machine, dryer, table and iron. A bread and pastry drop-off works on order the day before, and a breakfast with bread, pastry and a hot drink can be booked with the restaurant. Individual barbecues are rented for an extra charge.

The bar-restaurant, which holds a licence 4 and is wheelchair accessible, serves grills and ice creams, along with a neighbouring snack bar serving pizzas, homemade burgers and dishes of the day to eat in or take away. Themed evenings with karaoke punctuate the season, with for example sauerkraut or moules-frites. Hours vary: lunch and dinner service in summer, then reduced service on certain days in October and November.

The covered pool is heated to 26 °C, with no slide, a secure paddling pool and sun loungers. It is announced from April to October, from 10am to 7pm every day, with an adult required to be present for children under 12. Dogs and cats are accepted, vaccinated and kept on a lead, except in the wooden caravans and the comfort mobile homes.

On site, children enjoy a play area with a climbing wall, and adults a pétanque ground that serves as a meeting point. A table tennis table is set up, and a three-court tennis facility is right nearby. In the fine season, the themed evenings and the restaurant’s karaoke complete the programme.

On foot from the campsite, you can reach the La Ferté-Vidame arboretum, whose discovery trail covers nearly a hectare and brings together about a hundred and fifty species or varieties of trees and shrubs, including conifers from Colorado, the Caucasus and the Himalayas. The château park, 300 metres away, offers shaded avenues and French-style gardens. The protected wet forest of the Mousseuses shelters wet meadows, streams and undergrowth to explore on foot.

Walking trails of all levels surround the village. By car, the towns and villages of the Perche such as Mortagne-au-Perche, Bellême and Nogent-le-Rotrou make good day-trip destinations, and Chartres remains the nearest large city mentioned by the campsite. The Maison de Saint-Simon museum in La Ferté-Vidame adds a cultural visit.
