Camping Parc du Château, now presented as Domaine du Château, is at 37 rue du Chaperon Rouge in Épinal, in the Vosges. Rated 2 stars, it occupies a wooded estate of about 1.2 hectares, a few minutes’ walk from the Parc du Château, its medieval ruins and its animal park. The centre of Épinal is about twenty minutes away on foot, or three minutes by car.
The site has about forty pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, as well as about ten rental units: mobile homes, canvas bungalows, Coco Sweet and a six-bedroom gîte sleeping 12 people. An outdoor pool, a bar and a restaurant, open in season, complete the offer, with wifi across the whole site. Pets are accepted and the campsite is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Opening period: the campsite announces an opening from March 2 to October 30 and stays closed from October 31 to March 1. It therefore does not receive holidaymakers in winter. Reception is open during the day, with longer hours between March and August, and can be reached on 03 29 34 43 65.
The advertised rates start at €15 for a tent pitch without a vehicle, €20 for a motorhome, €39 for a two-person mini Coco Sweet and €49 for a four-person Coco Sweet.
The site offers electricity on the pitches, a laundry with a dryer, a drinking water point and a disposal point for grey and black water. Gas, ice and a bread service are also mentioned, which saves going back into town for everyday needs.
The outdoor pool is open in season, as are the bar and the restaurant: in July they operate every day. A ball games area is available, and wifi covers the whole campsite. The car park also takes coaches, which suits groups. Reception is in English as well as French.
The neighbouring Parc du Château, four minutes on foot, brings together the ruins of the fortress, a small animal park, a children’s play area and a viewpoint over the town.
The campsite’s website mentions hiking, cycling and canoeing in the Épinal area. The town centre, its museums and its old town are reached on foot in about twenty minutes, and the Vosges then offer hikes and natural sites a short drive away.
