Le Relais de Vallee Blanche

Le Relais de la Vallée Blanche is a small family campsite in the commune of Sallanches, in Haute-Savoie, along the road to Passy. It is run by its owners, who welcome their guests in person. The site has open views of the surrounding mountains and suits a stopover as well as a longer stay in the Arve valley.

The offer comprises 53 pitches of about 80 m² for caravans, motorhomes and tents, as well as a rental fleet of thirteen units: chalets of 18, 28 and 35 m² (for 2 to 6 people) and two mobile homes of 32 and 40 m², sleeping up to 6. Rates distinguish school holidays from other periods, with a reduced nightly price for monthly rentals.

The campsite says it operates all year round, services included. Caravans and motorhomes are accepted in every season, tents only in summer, and the pitch rate sheet includes a period from October to the end of March. The washrooms are heated and open around the clock, and the site is cleared of snow in winter. No minimum stay is required on pitches; rentals are generally Saturday to Saturday, with short two-night stays outside school holidays depending on availability.

Off-season, the place therefore suits winter motorhomers and skiing or snowshoeing enthusiasts, with several ski areas less than 25 km away.

Skiing, snowshoeing and paragliding in the neighbouring ski areas (Cordon 6 km, Combloux 9 km, Megève 11 km, Chamonix 25 km); Sallanches market on Saturday mornings.

The facilities are meant to be simple and practical. The heated washrooms include showers, toilets, washbasins, sinks and a cubicle adapted for guests with reduced mobility; they stay open all year round. A sheltered area with a table and chairs is freely available on the pitches, whose electric hook-up varies from 6 to 16 amps depending on availability. Wifi is chargeable and does not cover every pitch.

The campsite has a washing machine and a tumble dryer, sheet rental, a baby kit and outdoor games for children. A dedicated welcome for motorhomes is mentioned. Bread and pastries can be ordered before 7pm for the next day, and breakfast can be served on site in summer. Holiday vouchers (Chèques-Vacances) are accepted.

The rentals are furnished and equipped with a kitchenette (electric hobs, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, crockery), a living area with television, a bathroom and a covered terrace with garden furniture; bed linen, table linen and towels must be brought or can be rented. The Grand Confort mobile home adds air conditioning, a dishwasher and a washing machine. Pets are accepted for an extra charge.

There is no swimming pool or water park at the campsite: for swimming, guests head to the Les Îlettes leisure area, 2 km away, which has a lake with supervised swimming in season, or to the Sallanches aquatic centre. The supermarket is from 2 km away, the bakery 1.5 km, the pharmacy 1.6 km and the hospital 1.5 km.

Sallanches is in the heart of the Arve valley, a few kilometres from Cordon, Combloux and Megève. From the campsite, you can reach the area’s major sights by shuttle or train: the Aiguille du Midi and the Mer de Glace in Chamonix, about 25 km away, or the Aosta Valley through the Mont Blanc tunnel. Lake Annecy and Lake Geneva can also be visited as day trips.

In summer, the programme includes rafting, paragliding, mountain biking, summer toboggan, fishing and hikes of all levels in the commune and surroundings. The Les Îlettes leisure area, 2 km away, brings together a swimming lake, a fishing lake and a lake for water sports; you can get there on foot along a path or by car. Lake Passy is 3.7 km away, or 17 minutes by bike, and the Arpenaz waterfall is 4.5 km away. A cycle path and footpaths run along the Arve.

On Saturday mornings, a market is held on the quays in the town centre, 2 km away. Sallanches also has a cinema, a skate park and tennis courts, and the Saint-Gervais thermal baths and their park are nearby.

In winter, the campsite is close to several areas for skiing, snowshoeing or paragliding: Cordon at 6 km, Combloux at 9 km (Portes du Mont-Blanc), Megève and Saint-Gervais at 11 km (Évasion Mont-Blanc), Les Contamines-Montjoie at 20 km and Chamonix at 25 km.
