Camping Le Lizot is in Saint-Mandé-sur-Brédoire, in Charente-Maritime, close to the Aulnay state forest and Saint-Jean-d’Angély. It covers several wooded hectares, between the cognac vineyards and the Atlantic coast, which the website places about an hour away by road. A 45 km walking loop linking several neighbouring communes has existed since 2023 and can be covered on foot, by bike or on horseback.
The site has 63 pitches, 18 of which are reserved for residents, and 10 unserviced pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, of 80 to 100 m² with 10-amp electric hook-ups. Holidaymakers can also rent a mobile home for 4 to 6 people (from €230 a week) or a chalet on stilts sleeping 4 to 5. The campsite also sells residential mobile homes on plots of 150 to 300 m²: part of the site therefore operates as an owners’ park.
Opening period: the official website announces the unserviced pitches from 15 May to 15 September. The pool and its slide are open from 1 July to 31 August, the restaurant from June to September, and the bread depot in July and August. The campsite says it is open all year round, but this wording applies to owners of residential mobile homes. No winter date is published for rentals: call 09 73 01 17 03 before planning an off-season stay.
The brasserie-style restaurant serves dishes prepared with local produce and a list of regional wines, on the terrace or in the dining room overlooking the pool. It operates from June to September, every day except Monday and Saturday lunchtime, and also welcomes passing customers. The bar has a large terrace. The bread depot offers pastries in July and August.
The washrooms include showers and WCs, and a washing machine is available for €5, detergent included. Wifi is chargeable and limited to some mobile homes. One washroom block and the restaurant are adapted for people with reduced mobility, whereas the mobile homes and the pool are not.
The outdoor pool with three basins has a slide and is open from 1 July to 31 August. The site also has pétanque courts, table tennis and a secure playground for ages 3 to 12. In July and August, concerts are held on Sundays, along with karaoke evenings and themed nights.
In the surrounding area, the Romanesque church of Aulnay, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Bernouët leisure park and the Nuits Romanes festival are among the outings the campsite mentions.
Seasonal campsite: unserviced pitches from 15 May to 15 September, pool from 1 July to 31 August. Off-season opening dates for rentals to be confirmed with the campsite.
