Le Dauphin is on Allée du Fort Royer in Boyardville, in the commune of Saint-Pierre-d’Oléron, in the north of the Île d’Oléron. The village and its shops are a five-minute walk away, and the island’s wild beaches are close. The 2-star site presents itself as a traditional, nature-focused campsite under maritime pines, with plots of more than 80 m².
It has 126 grass pitches of 80 to 120 m², all with electricity and shade, plus ten canvas lodges for five people, with two bedrooms, a kitchenette and a terrace. The lodges are rented by the week, Saturday to Saturday, in July and August. The campsite is very popular with motorhome travellers and with walkers on the Chemin d’Oléron, for whom a special package exists.
On opening dates, precision is needed: the campsite itself is seasonal. For 2026, the season runs from 21 March to 6 November, then from 27 March to 6 November in 2027. The motorhome service area attached to the campsite, however, stays open all year round, day and night: it offers 40 places with water, electricity and waste disposal, and its washrooms are accessible from November to March. It is therefore the option for an off-season stay, at a flat rate specific to the winter period.
From the motorhome area: cycle paths, salt marshes, the Fort Royer oyster farming site and shore fishing at low tide.
The service is based on simple facilities, in the spirit of the traditional campsite. The washrooms are accessible 24 hours a day and spread across the site, with showers and toilets close to the pitches. Wi-Fi is listed among the access offered, and electricity is supplied to every pitch.
La Guinguette is the campsite’s social hub: it serves friendly food, charcuterie and cheese boards and local beer, and from 8am it runs the bread point and breakfasts. It also holds themed evenings with concerts, a fire-eater, spit-roast pig, seafood paella or mussels and chips. This operates in summer and follows the campsite’s opening months.
Reception welcomes guests every day and advises on activities and good addresses on the island. A pop-up hair salon sets up during the season. Dogs have a fenced, secure Dog Area with toys, and children a play area with a slide, swing and climbing frame. Bed linen for the lodges can be hired at reception.
Off-season, the motorhome service area is the only part open: it provides water, electricity and disposal of waste water and toilets, at an automatic terminal.
The campsite focuses on simple leisure: six pétanque courts, with tournaments during the season, and music evenings at La Guinguette. Children enjoy a play area and a wooded setting.
From Boyardville, several water activities are offered through providers: catamaran trips, sand yachting on the island’s beaches, suitable for families from age 10, and surf lessons for all levels. A boat shuttle links Boyardville to the Île d’Aix, and commentated cruises take you close to Fort Boyard.
On foot or by bike, you can reach the cycle paths that run along beaches, forests and marshes. The nearby oyster farming site of Fort Royer can be visited with guides who explain oyster farming, followed by a tasting. Shore fishing is possible at low tide in the salt marshes, within the regulations, and the Chassiron lighthouse, the typical villages and the local markets round off the programme.
Walkers following the Chemin d’Oléron have a dedicated package for a stopover.
Campsite open from 21 March to 6 November in 2026; motorhome service area open all year round (from 1 January to 31 December).
