Fraiteux

Fraiteux campsite sits above Plombières-les-Bains in the Vosges, at 550 m altitude and about 3 km from the centre of the spa town. The site is part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park; Remiremont, Luxeuil-les-Bains and Gérardmer are a few dozen minutes away, and the Gérardmer and La Bresse ski resorts about 45 minutes.

It is a small 3-star site: 33 pitches in all, including five mobile homes, four chalets and a four-season tent set up in May 2024 for motorcyclists, cyclists and walkers. The flat, spacious grass pitches take tents, caravans, motorhomes and vans, with electricity close by. The mobile homes are named after flowers (Iris, Tulipe, Marguerite, Géranium); one of the chalets has a private hot tub, and two were renovated in 2024 and in December 2025.

The campsite describes itself as open all year round. The chalets are advertised as available all year, the washroom block is heated for winter, the electric pitches remain accessible to vans and motorhomes equipped for the cold, and the bar is open from Tuesday to Sunday in the off-season. No annual closure period is published; it is best to call before a stay in the depths of winter.

Off-season, the place mainly suits spa guests, with a special rate from 20 nights and 21-night packages, skiers staying within reasonable distance of the slopes, and walkers or motorcyclists on the move.

Skiing 45 minutes away (Gérardmer, La Bresse), thermal cures at Plombières, Luxeuil and Bains-les-Bains, walks on the Vosges trails.

The washroom block is fully heated, which matters in winter, with a sheltered area for washing up and hand-washing laundry. A coin-operated laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer completes the set; tokens are bought at reception. Wi-fi is free across the site.

On site there is a small shop for basic supplies and a bread and pastry service, by order only before 6pm the day before. The snack bar serves a small menu that changes with the seasons, from 5pm to 6.30pm Monday to Sunday, and the bar stays open all year from Tuesday to Sunday. Check-in is from noon for pitches and from 4pm for rentals, with departure before 10am for the latter.

A motorhome service area is free for guests; motorhomers passing through can also use it for €5. For leisure, the campsite provides a table tennis table and a petanque court with equipment, and a children’s playground is five minutes away on foot.

The site has no swimming pool or pond: no water facilities are described on site. The Perce-Neige chalet, however, has a private hot tub that can be used in any season. The rental accommodation is equipped with a kitchen, quality bedding and, for some, a dishwasher.

Walking is the main activity: waymarked routes start from the Plombières area and lead through forests, past waterfalls and ponds. An easy 9.8 km outing, taking about 3.30 hours, leads to the Corfaing pond, the peat bog and the Géhard waterfall at Girmont-Val-d’Ajol. The campsite also recommends the guided historical tour of Plombières, the spa town, and a trip to Remiremont, the city of the abbesses.

Cyclists and mountain bikers have the Vôge greenways and the Grandfondo; the Remiremont mountain bike stadium is 20 minutes away. The campsite holds the Home Vélo label. Motorcyclists enjoy the stage on the Vosges mountain pass roads.

For families, the Accro’Terrasses treetop adventure course with panoramic views is about 4 km away, the Ferme Aventure offers a barefoot trail, and the Confiserie des Hautes Vosges shows how the fir-bud sweet is made. Plombières is also the gateway to the thermal baths: the campsite is a partner of the Chaîne Thermale du Soleil and close to the baths of Luxeuil-les-Bains and Bains-les-Bains.

Off-season, the Gérardmer and La Bresse ski resorts are about 45 minutes away by road, and the region can be explored in winter too. The campsite’s news relays local events throughout the year, which give ideas for outings.
