Overview

The Val de Tamié estate is in Les Combes, a hamlet of Faverges-Seythenex in Haute-Savoie, at 900 m altitude, in the heart of the Massif des Bauges regional nature park, between Annecy and Albertville. Lake Annecy is about twenty minutes away by car, and Lyon and Geneva airports are less than two hours away. The place is described as quiet, at the edge of the forest, with roe deer sometimes coming up to the treeline.

The natural campsite covers 2.5 hectares of meadow and has 30 pitches, 25 of them with electricity, for tents, caravans, motorhomes and vans. The land is left in its natural state: some pitches are on a slope, and the estate warns that there is no waste-disposal point and no water-filling point. The site holds the Charme Camping label from the ANWB, the Dutch automobile and tourist association.

On opening, two things need to be distinguished. The campsite operates from April to October: the 2026 rates run from 15 April to 15 October. The estate’s accommodation, however, is stated to be open all year round: the chalets for 2 to 10 people can be rented in every season, with an outdoor ski locker, and the Hostel des Combes is rented by the night all year round, as a whole-building booking. It is therefore a place suited to winter stays in a chalet, not in a tent.

The estate can also be rented in full, with 41 beds, for a wedding, a seminar or a family reunion.

The campsite’s washroom block has three showers, one of them accessible to guests with reduced mobility, with hot water included in the rate, four toilets, one of them adapted, four dishwashing sinks and a baby bathroom with a bath and toilet. Toilet paper is provided, but the estate advises bringing your own. A shared oven, microwave and freezer are available, and fridges can be rented.

A multipurpose room with a terrace is used for evening events and for sports broadcasts. It can also be rented all year round for meetings, family meals or parties. Food is offered by reservation, with sharing platters, burgers, pizzas, salads and other dishes, and a food truck operates in July and August, also by reservation.

The chalets are fully equipped: dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, raclette and fondue sets, hairdryer, television, electric barbecue and furnished terrace. The Belle Étoile chalet, of 60 m² for four to six people, is equipped for guests with reduced mobility; the Sambuy chalet, of 80 m² for eight to ten people, has two bedrooms and a mezzanine. Bed linen and towels are provided in the chalets; in the Hostel des Combes, full bedding and one towel per person are provided free of charge. Chalets are non-smoking, with no parties or events.

There is no swimming pool on the estate: swimming is in Lake Annecy, about twenty minutes away in summer.

Activities & entertainment

🥾Hiking

The estate is above all a starting point for walking: hikes for all levels, from beginner to the most experienced, start from the surroundings. A digital treasure hunt, Explor Games, lets teams discover the Tamié valley with a smartphone. Cycling has its place too: the Col de Tamié, a favourite with cyclists, is very close, and greenways start from the estate.

About fifteen minutes away by car, the Sambuy offers several activities including a rail toboggan, a treetop adventure course and a zip line. Lake Annecy, twenty minutes away, draws visitors in summer for swimming and its beaches.

In winter, the estate highlights snowshoe walks through snowy landscapes. The chalets, with their outdoor ski locker, serve as a base for a stay in the snow, and the Hostel des Combes welcomes groups all year round.

On site, the multipurpose room with a terrace hosts the campsite’s evening entertainment and the broadcasting of sports events. The estate also makes an online welcome booklet available to its guests.
