Across 230 hectares, in Bessais-le-Fromental, the Village Loisirs de Goule combines accommodation and a leisure centre in the Cher, between Bourges, Montluçon and Nevers. The place is built around the Étang de Goule, a sensitive natural area known for its biodiversity. Since 2025, the site has been rated a 3-star campsite. Swimming in the lake is not allowed.
The accommodation offer is varied: lodges for 4 people, 35 m² wooden chalets sleeping up to 6, Indian tipis, 25 m² canvas bungalows less than 50 m from the lake and bare 110 m² pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. There are also furnished rooms for 2 to 4 people and group residences, with 110 beds in total. A three-space motorhome area is free to use.
Opening period: this is a site with seasonal opening in 2026. The chalets are announced from 12 March to 1 November; the lodges, tipis, canvas bungalows and bare pitches from 24 April to 27 September. The furnished rooms, on the other hand, are offered all year round on reservation: they are a room offer separate from the camping accommodation, which stays closed in winter. The site reception publishes opening hours until 31 December and then provides a telephone service on 02 48 60 82 66.
The site brings together on site the essentials for a stay without a car. A small grocery shop sells basic products, and a delivery of bread and pastries is offered for rental stays, with breakfast also available to order for an extra charge. The lodges have a kitchenette and the chalets a kitchen, with microwave, ceramic hob and crockery; the chalets also have a dishwasher and a television, and some are adapted for people with reduced mobility. Packages for sheets, towels and end-of-stay cleaning are available as options.
The snack bar La Terrasse overlooks the lake and has a covered terrace. In 2026, it is open from 24 April to 27 September: weekends and public holidays until the end of June, every day in July and August, then every weekend in September. For motorhome travellers, the multiservice point is accessible day and night from April to September. The tennis courts, mini-golf and children’s play areas complete the picture. No swimming pool is presented on the website, and swimming in the lake is forbidden: people come here for supervised water activities.
The heart of the offer is water-based. The sailing club, a member of the French Sailing Federation network, is open from 1 May to 27 September 2026 and gives lessons in windsurfing, dinghy sailing, catamaran sailing and wing foiling; windsurf equipment can be hired on site. Kayaks, paddleboards, pedalos and big paddles can be hired from €10 an hour for a paddleboard.
The leisure centre, open from 4 July to 30 August 2026, offers a kayak trip with a naturalist guide, a discovery of the lake by regular or electric bike, walks, laser game and a digital treasure hunt, as well as a sailing boat trip. A few one-off openings are planned in May. Festive events also punctuate the season, such as a food-tasting walk. The paths around the lake can be walked freely. All of these activities are concentrated in the fine season, from April to September: in winter, the leisure centre is closed and only group bookings remain possible.
