Camping Les Sapins is in Camurac, a small Pyrenean village in the Aude, close to the Cathar Way. The site is open, lined with trees and hedges, with lovely views of the villages and mountains. The pitches measure 80 to 100 m² and are chosen in open field, under the trees for shade or between the hedges for privacy. The campsite is car-free: vehicles stay in the neighbouring car park after unloading.
As for accommodation, the website offers equipped tents, safari-style lodge tents, a log cabin, residential caravans and two chalets, A and B, for four people each. These two chalets are described as insulated for year-round use and available to rent in summer and winter, although the website publishes no winter dates or rates.
Opening period: published rates run from 21 April to 20 October, with high season in July and August. For 2026, however, the website announces a closure from 13 September 2026 to 1 January 2027, and says that the Dutch managers, in place for 17 years, are handing the campsite over to new owners. An energy supplement is charged from 1 November to 1 April, but no winter opening date is given: off-season admission is to be confirmed with the campsite, on 04 68 20 38 11.
A small restaurant overlooks a garden with seating areas: dishes of the day, fresh pizzas, snacks, chips, ice cream and drinks, with fresh bread and pastries in high season. Reception houses a small shop selling fruit, vegetables and fresh produce. The campsite has a pool with a children’s pool, both fenced, a laundry with washing machine and dryer, a small book-swap library and free wifi at reception. Some pitches and washrooms are adapted for people with reduced mobility. Dogs are allowed on a lead, tattooed and vaccinated.
On site, a volleyball court, a table tennis table, a trampoline and a few games keep children busy; the campsite hires out mountain bikes and offers archery. The GR 107 and GR 7B trails, known as the Cathar Way or the Chemin des Bonshommes, pass almost in front of the campsite, and walking maps are available. Horse riding, donkey trekking, canyoning, climbing, rafting and via ferrata are offered in the surrounding area by instructors. A fishing pond is ten minutes away on foot and a small ski area ten minutes by car, with ski hire in Camurac.
Off-season opening not confirmed: rates announced from 21 April to 20 October, closure announced from 13 September 2026 to 1 January 2027 (to be confirmed with the campsite, handover to new owners under way).
