Le Soleillant

Le Soleillant is a traditional farm in the Monts du Forez, at 830 m altitude, in the commune of Verrières-en-Forez, in the Loire. The campsite occupies a large wooded plot there, with terraced pitches overlooking the village, the Grands Bois on the edge of the Auvergne, the Forez plain and, in clear weather, the Alps. It is run by Chantal Rival, a farmer’s daughter, who also offers three guest rooms.

The natural site has about twenty unserviced grass pitches, separated by hedges, and six light accommodation units spread across the wooded area: three mobile homes, a chalet, a wooden eco-chalet and a caravan. The Soleil Levant mobile home is equipped with heating. Visitors can follow farm life, with cows, goats, poultry and the vegetable garden, and fenced paddocks are provided for horse riders.

Opening period: the sources do not agree. The Loire Forez tourist office announces opening every day from March 1 to November 30, 2026, whereas other websites speak of year-round opening. The campsite’s website publishes no winter dates or rates. Welcoming holidaymakers in December, January or February is therefore to be confirmed with the campsite, on 04 77 76 22 73.

The pitches have electricity, charged as an extra, and water points. There are hot showers, shared washrooms, a laundry, free wifi, free private parking, and a bike storage area with charging for electric bikes. Pets are accepted. Motorhomes are welcome on five pitches. The farm offers breakfasts and meal trays, by reservation and for an extra charge, cooked with its own produce and that of the vegetable garden.

Hiking trails start less than 500 m from the campsite and long-distance hiking routes pass less than a kilometre away, as do cycle routes. Farm life is part of the stay: caring for the animals, the vegetable garden and evenings under a starry sky. In the surrounding area, an essential-oil distillery and a honey producer can be visited, along with other addresses listed by the Loire Forez tourist office. The fenced paddocks take in the riders’ horses.
