Overview

Le Rioumajou is located in Bourisp, in the commune of Saint-Lary-Soulan, in the Aure valley (Hautes-Pyrénées). It covers 5 hectares at 800 m altitude, on the banks of the Neste d’Aure, 2 km from the centre of the resort. The site has been rated 4 stars by Atout France since 1 August 2023. The home page announces 192 pitches in total, including 134 bare pitches detailed in the dedicated section: 80 for tents and 54 for caravans or motorhomes, of about 100 m², partly shaded or in the sun.

Several options coexist: premium comfort pitches, pitches on paving slabs or on gravel, a “Privilège” pitch equipped with garden furniture and a barbecue, and a “Partagé” pitch designed for hikers or solo travellers. Mobile homes for 4 to 6 people, some air-conditioned, including one model adapted for guests with reduced mobility, are also for rent; pets are not allowed in them, whereas dogs on a lead are allowed on the pitches.

The campsite presents itself as open all year round. Ten pitches are gravelled for winter, the washrooms are heated and the mobile homes are described as insulated for all seasons. Reception is open in the morning and afternoon, with a break at midday, and extends its hours in July and August. The high-summer services (pool, snack bar, bread service) are seasonal.

From the site, a path follows the river to the Agos leisure area, about fifteen minutes on foot, and a cycle path leads to Saint-Lary.

Three washroom blocks, two of them adapted for guests with reduced mobility, are spread across the site; they are heated and supply hot water. A laundry offers washing machines, tumble dryers, a drying room, tables and irons. The electric hook-ups deliver 10 amps and do not serve every pitch: bring an extension lead, and a European plug can be borrowed or bought at reception. A Euro-Relais service point serves motorhome owners, and you can leave mail for collection or buy 13 kg gas bottles.

The reception room, the multi-purpose room and the games room, open from 9am to 10:45pm, offer free wifi (only in these rooms), TV rooms, pool table, table football, table tennis, a library and board games. The campsite rents out high chairs, travel cots, refrigerated lockers and bikes, as well as bed linen and towels for the mobile homes.

As for water, the outdoor pool, heated to 27 °C, measures 17 m by 10 m, with a depth of 1.10 to 1.90 m, plus an unheated paddling pool; it operates from the end of June to early September, unsupervised. The snack bar, with dishes to eat in or take away, follows the same calendar, and the bread service is limited to July and August. Off-season, there is a small emergency shop and a supermarket one kilometre away, as well as shared barbecues.

On site, there is a football pitch, a petanque court, a children’s play area and, indoors, a table tennis table and a pool table. In July and August, an entertainer offers free family outings on weekdays, wooden games on Mondays, children’s face painting on Wednesdays, and evenings with performers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Sunday evenings, a welcome drink is an opportunity to meet the activity providers: rafting, canyoning, tree-top adventure, paragliding, archery or guided fishing, with discounts for campers.

The riverside path leads to the Agos leisure area, where you will find lake loops, a skate park, a mountain bike park, a fitness trail and accessible fishing jetties. Hiking options abound: the Rioumajou hospice (about 7.5 km round trip, easy), the Rioumajou balcony trail (12.5 km, +630 m), the Grascouéou barns, the Moudang valley, as well as the Néouvielle nature reserve and its lakes.

From October to April, the campsite points guests to four ski resorts close by: Saint-Lary 2 km away, Val Louron 15 km, Piau-Engaly 20 km and Peyragudes 30 km. The Saint-Lary thermal baths offer wellness and spa treatments, and the mobile home can host a 21-day spa cure in May, June, September and October.
