Le Pont du Mas is a family campsite at about 500 m altitude in Génolhac, in the Gard, on the banks of the Homol river and within the Cévennes National Park. The village station, served by the Cévennes train from Nîmes, is 1.5 km away; Alès is about thirty kilometres away via the N106 and then the D134.
The site is split into two areas. On the camping side, 80 m² pitches for tents and hikers, sold in six options depending on whether you arrive by bike, motorbike or car, with or without electricity. On the glamping side, unusual accommodation scattered through the woods: an isolated tent, a transparent dome sphere, a tipi, a Finnish kota, a wooden barrel, a POD and the Camisards’ hut. There are also mobile homes for 4 to 6 people, air-conditioned and equipped with a kitchen, a bathroom and a terrace. The website states that everything is accessible to people with reduced mobility, except the kota and the barrel.
Opening period: the campsite does not announce year-round opening dates. On the official website, the pitches close from 1 November to 28 February, with the possibility of setting up on request after 30 September by phoning before arrival. The unusual accommodation can be booked online from March to October, and the dome sphere cannot be booked from mid-October to the end of March. No dates are published for the mobile homes: a winter stay is to be confirmed with the campsite on 06 33 76 64 36.
The facilities remain simple and nature-focused. The unusual accommodation is 20 to 70 metres from the campsite washrooms; guests bring their own bed linen and personal belongings. The barrel and the kota have a cooking corner, a WC or an equipped kitchenette, and an electric plancha is lent for outdoor meals, while the POD has no WC or bathroom.
The mobile homes add reversible air conditioning, television, a living area with an equipped kitchen and a terrace, with an inventory check on arrival and departure. They are rented by the week or for a weekend. The website mentions no pool, restaurant or shop: you need to plan your groceries in Génolhac. Washrooms and services in the off-season are not detailed.
People come here for walking and water. Hiking trails cross the Cévennes National Park from the campsite, and the nearby rivers are good for swimming and fishing. The station 1.5 km away also makes it possible to set off without a car.
In Camisard country, the campsite mentions several outings: Lake Villefort, the Mas de la Barque, the Anduze bamboo garden, Saint-Jean-du-Gard, Mont Aigoual, the Pont du Gard and Nîmes. The website mentions no organised entertainment on site and no activity specific to winter.
Opening dates not published: pitches closed from 1 November to 28 February (on request after 30 September), unusual accommodation bookable from March to October. Off-season stay to be confirmed with the campsite.
