Le Floréal occupies a site planted with umbrella pines in Lattes, a commune in the Hérault right next to Montpellier, on the Chemin de la Première Écluse. Palavas-les-Flots beach is about 6 km away, the River Lez 500 metres and the lagoon a few kilometres. The site covers a little over a hectare and a half and has about 134 plots, including around thirty rental units, around forty bare pitches and around twenty motorhome spaces.
The pitches of 100 to 150 m², separated by living hedges, take tents, caravans and motorhomes with a 16-amp socket and a parking space. For rentals, the campsite offers mobile homes with one to three bedrooms, sleeping 2 to 8, as well as a Coco Sweet tent for 4 people. The washroom block includes a bathroom accessible to guests with reduced mobility.
On opening, the reference listings give a period of 1 January to 31 December for the campsite, the rentals and the service area. Le Floréal’s own website gives low-season reception hours, reduced to the morning and late afternoon, and an offer for professionals: a mobile home at €900 a month for two people, charges included. The campsite also gives the 21st night of a stay free.
The place suits business stays as well as stopovers for motorhome owners, a stone’s throw from Montpellier and its facilities.
Palavas Challenge nautique regattas in January, Montpellier's cultural venues (Corum, Arena, Zénith Sud), Languedoc vineyards.
Reception is open every day from 9am to 7pm in July and August; off-season, it is open from 9am to 12pm and then from 3pm to 6pm. The campsite offers free, unlimited Wi-Fi, a laundry with washing machine (€5 or €7 a token) and dryer (€4), a waste disposal point for motorhomes, hire of gas barbecues (€10 including €5 deposit) and ice cubes for sale. Tourist information is available, and a shuttle links the campsite to the beach, supermarkets, stations, the airport and the tram.
In the morning, a €6 per person breakfast is served from 9am to 11am, with hot drinks, fruit juice, bread and pastries. A small emergency grocery and a bread pick-up point complete the offer. The bar, with a giant screen for major sporting events, and its shaded terrace serve drinks and ice cream; on Friday evenings, a welcome drink is offered between 6pm and 7pm.
The snack bar serves burgers, chips and salads, to take away or eat in, lunch and dinner in season and dinner only off-season; it is open from 15 March to 15 October. For children, the campsite mentions a games room, bouncy castles and a boules pitch to share as a family. A pool is sometimes mentioned, but the campsite’s website does not describe one: it is best to confirm with reception. Off-season, what remains is therefore the laundry, the waste disposal point, the grocery and the bread pick-up point, according to the campsite.
On site, entertainment mostly happens in summer: free concerts take place at the snack bar from 7pm to 1am, with theme nights, DJs, Latin music or pop. The games room, boules and bouncy castles keep children busy, while the bar shows sporting fixtures on the giant screen.
Around the campsite, the sea is 6 km away: the sandy beach at Palavas-les-Flots invites swimming and board sports, and the region offers canoeing and kayaking in the Hérault gorges, tree-top adventure courses, walks, bike rides, cinema, bowling, an aquarium, an ice rink, climbing and zoos. The Lez flows 500 metres from the campsite, and the leisure park is 1 km away.
Montpellier, a city with history and medieval architecture, can be visited from the campsite by shuttle and tram. Further afield, it recommends Sète, the Pic Saint-Loup, the Petite Camargue, Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, the Salagou and Mourèze. On the food side, the asparagus of Les Sables, Bouzigues oysters, the petit pâté of Pézenas, the tielle of Sète and Languedoc wines, divided into five major AOPs, are among the products highlighted.
Off-season, the city remains the main attraction, with facilities such as the Corum, the Arena and the Zénith Sud, while Palavas-les-Flots hosts a series of regattas in January, the Challenge nautique.
