Le Bois des Roches is located in Bouchet, a village in the Drôme provençale, close to Grignan and Vaison-la-Romaine. The campsite is rated 4 stars; it stretches across a heavily wooded site bordered by a small river, with 90 spacious pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, all advertised as accessible to people with reduced mobility.
The campsite also rents out 28 m² air-conditioned mobile homes for 1 to 6 people with a covered terrace, as well as 23 m² wooden chalets for 1 to 4 people. Alongside the pool and slide there is a restaurant, a pizzeria and a bar, a playground and entertainment in season.
The official website states “open all year round”: pitches, mobile homes and chalets can therefore also be booked in the off-season, from 1 September to the end of June according to the price list. Out of season, a stay in rented accommodation starts from two nights, with sliding-scale packages, and mobile homes are available by the month on request. The pool, however, is only open from 15 April to the end of September and the restaurant from 15 May to the end of September.
Reception welcomes guests from 10am to 12pm, then from 4pm to 7pm. The abbey of Bouchet and the old village are a few steps away.
Visits to the Drôme provençale (Grignan, Suze-la-Rousse, Vaison-la-Romaine), hiking and river fishing right next to the campsite.
The water area consists of a large pool with a slide and a beach equipped with sun loungers, open from 9am to 8pm from 15 April to the end of September; access is free for guests. The restaurant, open in season from 7am to midnight from 15 May, serves a brasserie menu, pizzas, snacks, ice creams and crêpes, indoors or on the terrace. There is also a small convenience shop and, in July and August, a bread and pastry service.
The site has free, unlimited hot water, washrooms, two washing machines and a tumble dryer operated with tokens, and washing powder sold in single doses. Wi-Fi is free. The mobile homes are equipped with a kitchen, a shower room, a separate toilet and air conditioning; the smaller chalets have a kitchenette. Pets are not allowed in the rental accommodation, but a supplement applies on pitches.
Off-season, the rental accommodation and pitches can still be booked, whereas the pool, the restaurant and the bread service are seasonal; the campsite does not say whether the washrooms or the accommodation are heated. Caravan storage (garage mort) is possible in the car park.
On site, children can enjoy slides, swings, a trampoline, a zip line, a roundabout and inflatables. The more sporty have a volleyball court, a basketball hoop and a boules pitch. In season, two dance evenings take place every week, on Wednesday and Saturday, along with boules tournaments, night swimming and themed evenings. The river running alongside the site appeals to anglers.
The Drôme provençale offers a wide choice of outings: the château de Grignan, linked to the Marquise de Sévigné, the château de Suze-la-Rousse, the fortress of Mornas, the Roman ruins of Vaison-la-Romaine and the ancient theatre of Orange. The campsite also recommends the abbey of Aiguebelle, founded in 1137, the Valbonne charterhouse, the Aven d’Orgnac and the La Cocalière caves.
For nature, it mentions Mont Ventoux, the Sautadet waterfalls at La Roque-sur-Cèze and the Crocodile Farm. The curious can continue to Montélimar and its nougat, the Silk Museum in Taulignan or the ochres of Roussillon. These cultural visits are well suited to off-season weekends, when the sites are less crowded.
Campsite open all year round; pool from 15 April to the end of September, restaurant from 15 May to the end of September.
