Overview

Camping La Pointe is in Frise, a village in the Somme valley, in the Vermandois, about 8 km west of Péronne and 38 km east of Amiens. It occupies a site on the Île de Frise, along the chemin du Marais, in an area dotted with ponds left by former peat extraction and crossed by the Somme canal.

The site offers 50 pitches averaging about 170 m², all with electricity, five of them reserved for motorhomes, plus three rentals. There is a children’s playground, a washing machine, washrooms accessible to disabled guests, a motorhome service area and fishing access on site. Pets and barbecues are allowed, and guests are welcomed in French and English. The campsite is classed in the leisure category under the new standards.

Opening period: this is a seasonal campsite. A tourist office listing gives opening from March 1 to November 15, 2026 (to be confirmed with the campsite), which means closure from mid-November to the end of February. A camping website mentions rentals open all year, but without details of their number, dates or winter rates: this winter opening has not been established and must be checked directly with the campsite, on 03 22 83 24 81.

Facilities

🚙Motorhome service area
🧺Washing machine

The facilities remain simple, in the spirit of a small village campsite. Each pitch has an electricity hook-up, and five spaces are intended for motorhomes, with a service area equipped with a service point. Parking is free. A washing machine is available, and the washrooms include facilities adapted for disabled guests.

The campsite does not mention a swimming pool, restaurant or shop on site in the available information. To swim or eat out, plan to go to neighbouring towns, notably Péronne. Reception is in French and English, and payment is accepted by holiday vouchers (chèques-vacances), bank cheques, cash and CAF vouchers.

Pets are welcome and barbecues are allowed, which suits simple stays centred on fishing and walking.

Activities & entertainment

🎣Fishing
🥾Hiking

Fishing is the campsite’s main activity, with a pond about 200 m away and the Somme 800 m away. The banks and paths of the Somme canal, built between 1770 and 1827, are good for walking and cycling, and there is a forest about 4 km away. Children have a playground on site.

The village has about 115 hectares of water and ponds, relics of medieval peat extraction, which give the landscape its marshy character. Visitors can see the church of Saint-Pierre and the Montagne de Frise, as well as traces of 1916 trenches: Frise was on the front line during the Battle of the Somme, and the writer Blaise Cendrars set scenes of his book La Main coupée there.

Péronne, a few kilometres away, makes it possible to add visits linked to the First World War to a stay, and Amiens is 38 km away. These outings are mainly made from March to November, when the campsite is open.
